Anyone else falling OUT of love with their 1er?

I'm in love with the N54. I've never experienced a turbo car with so much torque down low. It suits my driving style perfectly

My engine LOVES high revs and I haven't heard a better sounding engine in this price class, regarding it's smooth mechanical sound.
It sounds as if it could handle another 1000rpm easily.
That said, yeah, the power does fall off above 6000rpm, but that's the price we pay for wanting all that torque available below 2000k rpm.
I'd easily give up some low rpm torque to get more torque up high.
The torque curve of these modern turbo's sure does give excellent low rpm power, but they suffer high rpm power, very unlike traditional turbos that start to scream at mid to high rpm but lack low rpm torque.

I'm hoping the new valvetronic turbo setup helps improve high rpm torque.
A larger single turbo should give us more up top.
A sequential setup with a small and large turbo would be the shiznit.

Nope. We have two similar small turbos in parallel. One per three cylinders.

I disagree wholeheartedly. I'm up in Colorado at 6,200ft. Turbos are king up here. N/A cars lose 25% of their power at a very minimum. 350Zs feel like Accords. Even Z06s and GT3s are lackluster. The more turbo choices I have the better!

I have the creaks and rattles and i'm starting to push my dealer to start fixing them but thats not going as smooth as i would like it.

and I'm like a few others, i'm starting to fall out of love with my dealer. sales guy was good, being 21 it was hard to get them to take me seriously but because i was referred by a good friend of the GM and the sales guy it helped them to know i was going to buy but my sa is giving me crap for every litting thing

How do you disagree? I said that FI is better than NA. It was awkward wording. But I was saying that although NA is inferior to FI there is something about it...just like a manual trans, which is inferior performance wise to the modern DCT and F1 gearbox.

I must've misread what you meant - my bad.

That said, at sea level, on a race track, there's nothing quite like a built N/A.... Unfortunately I don't do much track anymore and I'm definitely nowhere near sea level.

Well its like the old addage...there is no replacement for displacement. And I know exactly what you mean. My uncle has a mid 80s GNX...a consistently 8 second GNX. The thing is a monster. Lifts one wheel fully off the ground while the other barely skims the pavement.

After five weeks, I still love mine, and I hope the love continues.

My only minor preoccupation is the lack of a consistently smooth ride at highway speeds. It's almost as if the wheels are slightly out of balance. But I think this is the runflats.

I fell in love with my 135i as soon as I started it at BMWWelt 17.10.2009 and then drove it on the German and Austrian autobahn(s) for two weeks and 2008 miles. It was a joy to drive and performed beautifully. No rattles, squeaks or wind noise. I'm still waiting...three weeks later...for it to catch a ship to the West coast! Arrgh... And I trust I'll love it just as much here, but won't be able to do those triple digit speeds here in Oregon.
