NEED HELP: E92 M3 Rear Sway Bar Installation

I have my 2013 135is convertible in to a local indie shop to have an MFactory LSD fitted.

While they are in there I am also having them install an E92 M3 rear sway bar. The guys have put the M3 sway bar in place but are concerned that the sway bar end links currently on the car are way too long. I have checked realoem.com for the 135 and the M3 (both E90 and E92 to be sure) and they all have the same part number for the end links.

Can anyone suggest what might be going wrong here or does anyone have experience of swapping out the standard 12mm rear sway bar on the 135 to the 22.5mm bar from the M3?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes they would. You should have taken some.

The rear bar installation is slightly counter-intuitive. When installed properly, the end of the bar points upward, not downward. Perhaps they installed the bar reversed.

The bar in this picture is not an M bar and the end link is not hooked up, but it shows the correct orientation.

Here is a better picture with the end link connected. A shorter link would bring the bar too close to the CV joint boot:

Thanks very much for all the help and the picutres. I sent them on to the shop and guys realized that they had the bar in around the wrong way. They are very good guys and will not charge for their mistake.

Thanks again for the help. What a great resource this forum is....although it has cost me a small fortune in upgrades!

Usually the simplest answer is what it is when it comes to installs! Glad you got it figured out.

+1 on what MMT said on the LSD feedback!

Car is still in the shop as we had the wrong lower IC pipe for the FMIC install. It is worth noting for anyone installing the ER FMIC in a convertible N55, it requires a specific pipe. That little mistake just cost me an extra 5+ hours labor @ $109/hr as the guys at the shop struggled to make the original pipe fit!

I am having an ARDesign catted downpipe fitted next week. Decided to go to another shop for this though! The guys at the current shop are ok, but I'm pissed that they wasted so much time on my coin before accepting that it would not fit.

I will not name the shop as I do not like to trash people in an open forum. PM me if you are in my area and want the details.

Always, always, always try to take your car to a shop that is involved in some form of racing, builds race cars, modding, all that stuff. Their mechanics are simply held to higher standards from my experience, and they know what to do when you hand them a performance part to install. Is the shop you're going to just a general german auto place or do they do frequent tuning, modding, racing, etc.? I would be furious at a shop wasting 5hrs and $550 of my money trying to fit a part.
