Anyone else not have a rear sway bar ?
My car was in to get the subframe bushings replaced and also some adj. end links installed in the rear, only to find out that my car does not have a rear sway bar, is that common? Anyone else not have one?

128's(non M-Sports) didn't come with a rear sway bar. I think that's why BMW includes front and rear sway bars with their Performance Suspension kit for the 128i.

Oh, well that explains it. It's funny, I would have never known it didn't have one unless I was told, never thought the rear rolled that much tbh

I think the (non-m) sports package also includes a rear sway bar and not just the m-sports package according to http://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-18...parts-kit.aspx. Either way, I can check mine while doing my diff fluid change if you'd like.

M-sport package on the 128i changes the shocks/springs/wheels and also adds a rear sway bar(besides the interior trim and seats, headliner, etc).
M-sport on a 135i is just a trim package(sport seats/headliner/wheels/higher speed limiter/etc). Suspension is the same on non M-sports.

I've always read that a big rear sway bar isn't all that good if the car doesn't have an LSD. Specifically it can cause the inside rear wheel to lift. Not sure how our car's ediff will handle that.

My car's inside rear wheel lifts already on hard hairpin corners. Stock rear sway bar, upgraded shocks and springs on Super Sports. You can feel the traction control do the stutter.

My 2008 128 coupe, with sport package has a rear sway bar. I believe it was before they offered an "m-sport" package.

I have a non m-sport that came with no sway bar, so I put an e92 m3 rsb in when I had the sub frame out. It is too f@cking stiff. At the time I was going to put an LSD in but later found that's not so easy on an automatic 128i. I have an e92 335xi rsb that I am going to swap it out with. I haven't measured it but it is probably 11mm from the looks. Just haven't felt like lowering the sub frame again. Don't go too stiff without an LSD!!

And yes, rear tire life on the right surface will cause inside wheel spin. I ran on grooved concrete most of the time and had rear grip to overcome this. However on asphalt there were minor issues Let me know how much, I might bite. |

How bad is it until you get a LSD?

On Dunlop ZIIs, it wasn't any issue. I think the hard sidewall helped the tires keep contact? Who knows On RS3v2s, inside wheel spin started to be an issue, but it was surface dependent. This was on RS3v2s on Asphalt |
