2008 135i problems

Hey team,

New member here. I've browsed a decent amount on this forum, but I wanted to get some final advice. I'm looking at getting a 2008 manual transmission 135i with 20,000 miles. It has sports package, cold weather package, and premium package. What are the main problems I need to watch out for? I've heard about the HPFP problem, but is there anything else for this model/year?

Thanks!

Garage List
I have one and havent had HPFP issues...

Other common problems
- rear taillights (replaced mine under warranty)
- Minor seat belt issue
- rare but, strange high pitched noise from speakers even if car is off

It's under warranty, so what are you worried about?
In addition the above mentioned problems, there have been many issues with the third brake light cracking and/or falling off, passenger side loud popping noises and passenger front airbag dent. Another "problem" is the stock runshit tires. They aren't worth the air they're filled up with.

This.

I haven't experienced any HPFP problems with my car but it has plagued some people.

Only two types of 135's....those whose HPFP has failed and those that will fail.

I had a 2008 135 and traded it in for a 1m. I had not one problem the entire time I owned it.

I have only owned mine for a few months, but the previous owner had to replace the HPFP. I'm also having an issue with my turbos/boost pressure now that isn't yet fully resolved. Feel free to follow here and I'll update with the conclusion:

We have an 08 that has over 50,000 on it now. The only issues have been the ones mentioned:

HPFP replaced once
Seat belt recall
Tail light replacement (just before the recall)
Cracked lens in the trunk mounted brake light

and one other on the passenger seat weight sensor, a wire came off of it.

They promptly took care of everything for us.

We had the radio noise issue, but it was only once and disappeared as quick as it appeared.

2008s were also I think the only year to have issues with wastegate rattle. I'm not sure the production months that were affected, so you'll have to do your own research on that.
