Long trip

I have just returned from a 3200 kms trip and can report that my 320i returned an average fuel consumption of 7.8 litres/100kms and that I achieved 890 kms on one tank of fuel. I was pretty impressed. The car has now done 15000 kms and the run-flats now feel 'normal', and although I would like a more cushioned ride over the bumpier roads, the handling and road-holding is first class. The aircon is top class, and althoughI wish the boot was larger (I carry golf clubs), the car's size and roominess is just what I want!

Nice to hear! That's a long trip. How were the seats?

The great irony is just when the run-flat are feeling normal they will probably wear out soon and need to be replaced.

By the way, does anyone have idea what kind of life (in kms) one can expect for 17" runflats with a non-agressive driving style?

The seats were fine - the electric adjustment is a great asset to vary one's angle and back/buttock pressures. I wondered what the 'massage' option would have been like!

AT 15000 kms the tyres show no sign of wear at all. I would expect at least 40 000 kms.

I just wish Chris Bangle was a golfer!

Also glad you are pleased with your 320i. :-)

Where did you drive to?
I'm gonna be driving from JHB to Durbs, in my 320d. Hoping to get a cons. under 6l/100km's for the trip - should be do-able with some cruise control :-) which would give me alot of km's...close to 1000 i think.
