I have never driven an RX-8 with automatic. Does it keep the revs up? My 6MT RX-8 sucked below 4500 rpm, but it was a lot of fun from 5000 to 9000.

To forget my RX-8, I require at minimum a Performance suspension and Quaife LSD. But I agree with the Dinan Stage 2 flash as well.

But like people have said, different people are into different things and at times I fell myself switching from wishing my car handled better to having something that is down right fast in a straight line. One day I will hopefully have both. In the meantime, I would stick with a 135i and flash it with a Dinan stage 2 software.
Not saying that the rx8 is a better car than the 135i by any means, but the automatic rx8 does not compare to stick. The manual version has a higher redline, a carbon fiber driveshaft instead of steel, higher gear ratios. This calculates to about 20 more hp and 50 less pounds. This does not sound like much, but makes a huge difference.

I love my 135i, it is on a much higher level than the rx8, but the rx8 was definitely more of a sports car. Hopefully the 135i will be able to transform with some mods.

I disagree. I owned an 04 Rx8 before the bimmer and must say it was a hell of an upgrade. IMHO the rotary motor has nothing on the N54.

Rx8s are def not reliable. The RENESIS Motor has a tendency to flood very easily.

You couldn't be more right man. I had so many flooding problems, it wouldn't start numerous times, i can't even count. Your telling me i think i'm upgrading to a 135i not down grading i can't believe what I've been reading on this thread it's knocking me off my feet.

They're definitely not a straight line car....the BMW will walk all over it that sense. On a track, it's a different story. The reason why I wanted to go to a BMW is because:

1. I work in the industry.
2. The RX8 sucks on the streets. Has no torque, has crappy MPG, and it's not as reliable.

I think the car with R compounds on is nearly untouchable in terms of driving feel and grip. You just don't get that type of feeling with every car out there.
I agree with you to an extent. What track cause Nurburring has a narrow road with tight corners for about 10 mins of driving on average, depending different parts and it lost that so what could possiblely be said to a lap that's faster then the rx8 not by a little either like 45 seconds. So it wasn't close and thats not due to the little straightaways here and there cause if that's the case if the rx8 is amazing so much DIFFERENT then it would catch up in all those "10000" corners don't you think. On a street lets get real everyone no rx8 is beating a 135 unless the guy in the 135i is.......handicap.

Street the 135 is more fun....just...more fun haahaa

but the rx-8 with a not so experienced guy its more DRIVER FRIENDLY....

There is a video on youtube of a 135 keeping up with a EVO 10 i believe, it was the guy from top gear(australia).

If the 135 was with an evo10, then i think it will take an rx8.

My RX-8 never flooded even once in 5 years of daily driving. Maybe I wasn't experienced enough to flood it properly, or maybe it's because I read the owners manual.

I also didn't have any other problems in 5 years, but I have heard that lots of people had interior squeaks and rattles that the dealers couldn't fix.

I loved my RX-8, yes it had a few nuances that you don't have with piston cars, but it was truly a love affair. Did I sell it to get a 135? Yes...Do I feel like the 135 is a better car overall? Absolutely...Is it faster - god-damned right.

If I had the means to keep both however I certainly would have and would have gutted the RX-8 and made a weekend racecar out of it. The only thing that holds that car back is power - I could certainly live with the quirks of the rotary however and as I mentioned previously the balance and control of that thing was unbelievable.

As he mentions a few posts up, the OP wasn't saying he regretted the purchase of the 1er, just that it lacked the clutch feel of the RX-8 and didn't feel as sporty out of the box (both things easily changable).

Here she was in her glory:
