New 125i

Hi guys,

I am seriously looking into buying a BMW 125i Coupe with M-Sport package, Automatic transmission, Bi-Xenon headlights and Electric glass sunroof.

The best quote I have got to-date is $67k. Does this sound reasonable? I was hoping to get it at $60k but wanna some feedback before pushing too hard at the dealers.

Any constructive feedback appreciated.

What is the list price for the car? Is this $67k on the road or does that include some discounting?

Also, why worry about pushing too hard? The worst they will say is "no" and unless you ask, you'll never know.

Just want to see whether $60k is achieveable with the options desired from other 1'ers experience. Can't wait to lock down a trade and to be a proud 1'er!!!

I don't reckon you'll get anywhere near $60K with those options.

M package does make the car look more aggressive against a non m package car. handling improvements with m package.

Ultimately its personal choice and what you will use the car for... not sure how much extra it costs on a 125i though.

Its about a $2.5k option. Am on a rather tight budget and my aim really is to get to about $60k so my wife will not kick me out of our house for this little rocket.

What's people experience with the 125i anyway? Does it worth all the praise of the famous BMW in-line 6 with great handling?

How can you possibly go for $60k when the RRP for the base model without on-roads is $57,831? The maths does not work. That price excludes delivery, stamp duty, first year rego, LCT, plus any other charges.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you won't get anywhere near $60k with those options.

Mine was in the ballpark of $65k and i didn't have xenons. I'd say anywhere near $67k i would take without a moments' hesitation.

Good luck.

As for the 125, it's a beautiful car. With the M-kit the handling is superb. Plenty of power, it's just a slightly detuned engine. But she goes! And sounds better than a 135, imo.

Would love to have you join! The 125s are definitely growing in numbers here Soon we'll have 4 or 5 of us active in the Sydney region, perhaps a 125 meet would be in order...

umm..... maybe try a used 125i.

Your dreaming if you think BMW will drop to 60K on road.

Besides, if you thought you could achieve that price you are
only lowering the resale for the rest of the 1ers.

60k on-road is achievable if the only option you want is auto.

on top of this i added m sport pack, sunroof, satnav, metallic paint, front parking sensors, anti-dazzle mirrors, ipod cable, floor mats etc and got it for 73k without trying very hard. this was about 7k off the initial on-road figure, to give you an indication.

and yes the 125i is bloody nice

we don't get a pop-up monitor anymore - it's now fixed. and you only get it if you pay extra for the satnav option, which also brings idrive with it. (i.e. idrive is not standard.)

ekywong,
Although the 135i tends to draw most of the attention, especially on enthusiasts boards like this it is a great little car in its own right. i reckon the m pack is deff worth it, but if you have to go without then you wont be missing out on much either.
mine was 67k otr with manual, sunroof, mpack and xenons.
good luck with the decision making!

BMR125, whered you get the avatar from??? looks like one of my photos ! hahaha

i would say definitely yes. it works in tunnels and in the cbd (as it's gyro-based not just satellite-based) and it gives you access to so many menus and also an array of touch-sensitive buttons which you can bind to satnav destinations, phone numbers, radio stations etc. (i.e. you touch the button, and it tells you what it is before you have to press it.)

Based on the deal I have secured you should be able to get that spec for $65K, perhaps a tad better. I recommend you check to see if your employer is on BMWs Corporate Programme (EPP) as it will give you a greatly reduced dealer delivery fee and 2 years free service.

However, considering you are working to a strict budget and are also after an auto, of which there are plenty around, I'd be just sourcing a used one.
