Sort Shift Kit

Im going to get the BMW performance SSK installed in my car( keeping stock boot, and knob) and i just wanted to see if anyone has the perfomance ssk installed, and ask how you like it?
Also how does the BMW perf stack up to the B&M, or the UUC?

Let us know how you like it. Can you order it without the boot and knob? I thought I remember seeing that they had to be ordered together.

I had the SSK installed on my 135i as part of the purchase last spring. Best money you can spend. Keep the boot if you like, but the SSK knob really is a joy. It fits my hand perfectly. Shifting the 135i is so much easier than the 335i I had without the SSK. Well done BMW.

Also, change the gear box fluid after 1200-1500 miles. This also makes shifting a lot easier and even more fun.

I tried the BMW one on another member's car. My opinion was that it reduced the throw distance dramatically, but in my opinion it was harder to find the gear you wanted and felt a little clunky. Maybe it was just the installation, not sure. But for sure if your primary goal is quickest possible shifts, it's the way to go.

Full disclosure, I went with the Dinan SSK. It doesn't decrease the distance nearly as much, but it keeps the smoothness of stock, and it's several hundred dollars less, probably because it doesn't replace the stock boot/knob. Not sure how other kits are in comparison.

careful if you also did a cdv cause i can shift faster than the car wil let me and youll just end up grinding. 1-2nd shift is where my problems is.

Yeah, i also have problems with 1-2 shift, in my car it either feels jerky(like not enough throttle vs too much clutch), or i grind, and every time it does that i kringe.
I am considering doing the CDV as well, but kinda wierded out about the bleed, ive never quite understood how to bleed brakes, or clutch. Actually kinda funny cuz ive done lots of r&r on engines, diffys, and trannys, but bleeding has always eluded me.

have a reputable shop do it for you. the bleeding is a bitch on these cars. plus you wont want to buy all the tools necessary for the job

i occasionally get grinds 1-2 shifting, it is usually when the car is cold and i try to shift too fast, once it is warm, i dont have any problems

i have the cdv mod

anyone try the AA weighted shift knob or have any experience with it.

I like the look but $125 for a knob! any comparable models out there?

I was thinking this knob with the BMW Performance SSK.

Jon has the weighted illuminated shift knob in his car and it has a night weight to it. It also has an OEM look with an illuminated shift pattern.

Is it on the stock shift unit or an SSK? do you have any pics by chance?

Thanks
