New Tyres... my car has been transformed!
Wow, what a change.
My rears were down to 2mm and the lack of traction was shocking. These RFT's are dreadful from <3mm. Just had the same Bridgestones fitted today and my car has been transformed, finally I have 2nd gear grip under fairly hard acceleration. They are still a bit slippy on roundabouts when cold - as I found out this morning when some dunce in a Vectra tried to 'do me' - he didn't but I was slithering round  I had been getting wheelspin in 3rd gear, and even the traction control light coming on changing into 4th at high revs (on a private road). I had been getting really fed up, but looking forward to some dry roads now for a proper blast now. As my car is leased I have to wait until 2mm to get them changed which is not safe IMO. A side note... my mpg is poor. If I drive hard everywhere I get 19-20mpg, and if I drive steady (mainly city driving) i get 23mpg. Motorway at 90ish gets me 25. There is so little change in mpg in this car... thought I would get 28-32 if I took it easy even with town driving?? Think I may be expecting too much :iono:

My overall average is around the 28mpg mark, but that's with probably 75% motorway driving , and none too quick at that.
I get <15 if I drive hard in town. I've only got 3k on my tyres, but with the cold and wet I really notice the lack of grip through second in particular, as I simply don't boot it in first at all |

My 135i Conv Auto did about 22mpg overall - I ain't a particularly fast driver, but I don't hang around either and did enjoy quite a few lunges to 7K in 2nd and 3rd . Motorway gave me about 28mpg sticking to 80-85ish. My Z4M driven similarly gave 24mpg overall and 30-32mpg on motorway at 80-85ish. TTS did 29mpg driven from Bradford to Whitby on a variety of roads - with a fair proportion of dual carriageway at 80-85ish - this Wed when I collected it. Cheers, Mike |

Be interested what they charged you for 4 tyres in the end?

Fitting "ordinary" tyres to replace Run Flats completely transforms the car, the ride is much more compliant and the road noise is considerably reduced.
to early to tell about wear rates as yet. Safe driving. A P. |

24.3 mpg, that's exactly what I get on a mix of city, surbuban and a bit of motorway. Well if you drive a 3ltr 6, you can't drive like a saint all the time. My last car was a 330ci auto and that did an overall 24.5 mpg.
I've just had Bird's B1 Sport Suspension fitted. Which consists of Bilstien shocks and springs to Kevin Bird's own spec. Its really transformed the handling. No more crashing and bouncing over speed bumps, skipping on uneven surfaces and crashing over man hole covers, or potholes which felt like craters. But the most amazing thing is the grip especially in the wet. I've still got my Brdgestone RFT's but they will be replaced with non RFT's ASAP. Kevin said this will improve it even more. Overall the car now feels like a much more mature sports car |
