FYI...

LL-1 is for USA high sulfur fuels
LL-4 is for Germany/European low sulfur fuels.

Since you live in Germany... you should use a LL-4 approved oil.

I have a US specs 135i over here in Germany. This is why I use "Castrol RS Edge 0w40 LL-4 oil" in my car. I can buy it tax free(with a VAT form) from Stahlgrube for 53 euros for a 5L jug. Normally this oil sells for 79 to 99 euros for the 5L jug at most stores over here. Or you can use the BMW/Castrol oil at the dealership. One liter runs about 23 euros.

exactly... hence my stement about a reversal of the reversal... Just like the Low Mileage oil services.... First it must be done, then it can wait, then it must be done again.. I think they just dont want a bunch of 1M's all at the same time sitting at the dealer because they werent prepared with fluid ....

The only think that goes against my train of thought is the rather low limited production, and the possible people that it has affected...

just me rambeling, but I have seen worse things happen...

The increased power output also affects other major drivetrain components, such as the transmission (M3 only) and the rear axle differential. The 1200 Mile Service requires changing the oil in the engine and the differential. M3 vehicles with the standard transmission also require the transmission fluid to be changed (transition fluid does not need to be changed for an M3 with the optional M-DCT Drivelogic transmission)."

So why are your transmissions being serviced? Unless the service procedures have changed since the print date I'm thinking the techs are doing more than necessary and putting some of you into a bind.
Because we have Manual tranmissions not drive logic.

The Mini will be fun a 328 automatic would be very dull. Sorry about the problrems-- Hope you get your car back soon.

Finally heard back ...

Well, 28 hours later, I heard back ...

They have an expedited order in for the LT5, it should arrive next Thursday.

They are saying it is okay to drive, but if I want them to pick it up on a rollback they will ... I will opt for them to pick it up ... *after* they really have the LT5 in stock.

very GOOD DEAL

Hang on to the car till they have fluid in hand... with more bad luck the fluid will get hung up in customs or something stupid...

I am very happy for you... really i am... ( and hopefully will be able to feel happy for Wild Bill and any others that are stuck )

Thats great too!!!

Maybe, just maybe, all the paniked calls by the different dealers shook the tree enough for it to rain MTL-LT5 all over the place

This might be due to me telling BMW NA we were going to require they pay our 1st car payment yesterday.

Great news!

Its worth a shot if it goes 3 or 4 weeks... if it goes to thursday, not so much...

BUT you do have an ace up your sleeve for the first "questionable" repair........ like due to "enthusiastic" driving ...

in addition its really 100 % dealers fault... hit them up for something..NA really has nothing to do with putting the wrong stuff in... Have them good will some performance grills or something...

FYI

FYI:

ZF Site

Per ZF website , under their list of lubricants ( TE-ML-11 ) under product groups S6-45 BMW Part# 8322 2167 666 (MTF-LT-5) is actually
Pentosin FFL-3

When cross referenced this is the same fluid that Porsche uses under the part# 000 043 207 29 ( Auto Trans Fluid FFL-3 )

Which shows to be in stock locally ( DFW )

Now, stock is limited, but it's faster than " Next Thursday "

Just a thought, feel free to independantly confirm.....

I have 15 bottles ordered just in case I can local owners get their 1M back sooner...

Steve

Thanks Steve...you guys alway seem to find away.

Anyone who is interested please give Steve a call. AutoScope is one of Dallas' alternatives to the German dealerships and they do great work and are highly recommended. They have helped me multiple times when I had my MINI and have a rather large following of track junkies.

Check them out... www.autoscope.net

The MINI was great fun. Everyone in the paddock was disappointed they didn't get to see the 1M.

Some diff links for Transmission Oil

Some more info on "LT-5" .... AKA "Pentosin FFL-3"

http://www.pentosin.com/shop_produkt...84&csprache=EM

Product data sheet:

http://www.pentosin.com/flexxtrader/...20FFL-3_GB.pdf

LT-2 is actually BP Castrol BOT 338

http://www01apps.zf.com/kst464/ZF_In...011_de0700.pdf

I believe that LT-2 is the same as Pentosin MTF 2, data sheet*:

http://pentosin.net/pressreleases/CR...nto_MTF2_2.pdf

*This is based on a reference ... http://www.bmwpartsweb.com/BMW-Parts...ID-825A69.aspx ... I am tired, going to bed, I will try to verify this tomorrow
