what a night/day!

[FONT=Courier New]

picked her up earlier this week. here's the first photo at the dealer
blk saph/blk,burl int/sport/prem/cw/comf access

now, yesterday i decided to take a little day trip to villach, austria. let me start by saying that i should have know better. on the way back from villach, it started to snow. i'm still waiting for my snow tires to arrive in the mail. conditions on the autostrada were getting worse quickly (no plows out on friday night). this, combined with my summer tires made the decision easy. i would get off at the next exit and stay the night in tarvisio, italy with my family instead of risking our safety and that of my 4 day old 330i.

we find a nice little hotel. we eat pasta, pizza, and caprese. wife and i drink plenty of vino (snow still coming down BTW). wake up this morning, walk down the street, and here is how if find my car (2nd photo).

i borrow a shovel and broom from a local trattoria and get to work. 30 min later i'm able to pull my car out, without DTC engaged, of course. i fishtail up this gradual slope until i can get to where the snow plows have been working (local children stop playing to point and laugh). once on solid asphault i have the wife and kids pile in and we are on our way. once on the autostrada (DTC back on), everything is fine. the plows had been doing their job this morning.

needless to say, my 330 will remain parked at my house until my blizzaks arrive. guess i'll have to take the mercedes to go skiing (damn, no heated seats) since it's got the right tires.

thought you guys might enjoy this post. long time viewer, first real post. more to follow.

Nice pics

Just for info:
Normally the car has DSC on
When you press the DTC button you engage DTC mode. This allows some wheelspin and tail out manouvers
Press and hold the DTC button for a while and everything is switched off

oh, i thought when i pressed DTC that it turned DTC off[U] (disengaged) and allowed wheel spin. anyway, i know that after i pressed DTC, the car allowed wheelspin and i was able to squirm out of that spot and up the small hill with a little wheelspin. i know that pressing and holding turns everything off. thanks for the feedback.

e90, i just checked my owners manual. you are in fact correct. i was actually activating the DTC. not that i didn't trust you. but as a wise person once told me...trust, but verify.

thanks again for the feedback

What a wonderful part of the world to be able to drive your E90 in. Blizzaks and ski rack for the next few months, then switch to windsurfing gear and Lago Garda or Maggiorre...

awesome story and pic.

Honestly, if my baby was covered in that much snow 2~3days after I picked
her up, I would be scared. but you used a shovel and broom... tough man!

Glad you made it home safely. Get those snow tires and enjoy the E90 in the snow!

yes, broom, but only to get the snow away from the lower bodywork and wheels. i wasn't taking that shovel anywhere near my car!

i used my hands to shove the majority of the snow off of the hood, roof, and trunk. i left a few inches though 'cause i didn't want to risk scrathing the paint with my jacket and gloves. those few inches blew off the car once i reached highway speed.

i had a big laugh when i see the other 2nd pic because it is so simlar to what i experience two days ago here in Toronto.

Then i was just waiting for the term 'fishtailing' in ur description and there it was. I was embrasssed fish tailing in the middle of the road for 30 minutes too try to get back to my house... lol
