GIAC, ESS etc - do they trigger any tuner codes?
Can the manufacturers of 1M flash-based tunes confirm that no tuner codes are triggered?
Also, would BMW void warranty based on aftermarket springs, downpipes, air-intake, etc? Thanks. |

Two great questions. Will add 1 relevant question
Any tunes available yet with a coding module so you can return the code to stick before going in for service or warranty? |

Like the other poster said.. ESS can.. GIAC can also with their handheld switcher. It's on the fly too and some people have done it while driving, like Mr. 5! |

^^Cool. Can manufacturers determine if the stock ECU tune was compromised, even after re-flashing back to stock. Perhaps a flag or trigger that users or tuners can't see.

Intakes and exhausts are ok from what I have been told but I'd still get that in writing from the dealer just to be extra careful.

Do you know how they can tell?
Does anyone have first-hand experience with their tune or even their reversed tune being detected by a BMW dealer? Especially on the E8X and E9X platforms. While on the subject, for 1 M Coupe, the M steering wheel button seems to toggle between 2 different throttle/boost mappings. So could one change only one of these mappings and leave the other one intact? THX, Eeghie |

I flashed with ESS last friday and no codes whatsoever....The difference in power is much more noticeable than the stage 2 flash for my subaru STI.... I didnt know that BMW are able to detect the flash even after the ecu being reverted to stock, that is worrying to me and i would have thought twice before doing the whole setup..

I do not belive I have EVER read here a post from someone who was flash tuned
who had their BMW warranty voided. I HAVE read here many with piggy tunes who have had their warranty voided. (because either the dealer found the piggy box or found the tell-tale evidence of broken tabs, wires, dirty covers moved around under the hood). Which is safer? PS: I think the only way BMW could ever tell you have a flash tune would be to download your flash tune and to read the line code line by line. AND only an engineer from BMW AG could do that. I think that chance is fairly rare at the dealership level. Only IF your car was being scrutinized by BMW NA or AG would they be able to tell - MAYBE. |
