Yep, and I always make it a point to put it in the sun after a wash and just sit there for 15 mins staring at the sparkly paint

Yeah... our cars are smaller than Toyota Corollas. One time I parked next to a Corolla and stared at the scene for a while... it just doesn't make sense!

Good LORD! this lady almost killed me today! She was in her brand spankin' new F30 AW 328i.

It was at a point where two freeways merge together but not have any of their respective lanes coincide with each other (merge of 170S and 134E). I was minding my own business in my own lane going at a normal speed (70 on a 65). All of a sudden, I see this white car drift into my lane from the right. I quickly steered away! Guess what, the lady in her F30 flicked me off. I responded in kind and flicked her off...I'm not sure if she saw that as she used all of her 245hp to do a flyby me.

With that said, I am amazed with how quickly the car's direction changed! I guess that's a trait of a shorter wheel base car. Also, OEM brakes are pretty darn good. Otherwise, I would have connected with center dividing concrete barrier. Lastly, I've never floored this car...ever. When I did to catch up to speed, it felt amazing and the PE sounded amazing with the DCT shift farts.

Still fairly new to my 1 but since i have this week and half of next off I decided today, between doctors appts., to clean the car and go for the usual 80mph air dry thing.
You know, to reduce streaks and water marks.
This I think is the first time I actually gave my 1 "the beans."

Holy crap.

The Grip, the power, the noise, the turbos, the DTC. light(lol)

This car is a drug.
You get a hit and you want more.
I can only imagine this car with mods. Not in the cards now but man, I LOVE MY 1!
Never with people close by, and only on the freeway. Gotta be careful!

I call her Penny.

I see this on a daily basis. Here in Northern Virginia, I often confuse merging with Russian roulette. People here make it a point to get out of their way to get IN your way, and actually keep you from merging. If you are merging, people will accelerate to get into your merging spot and then slow down, just for the F of it. If people are merging, and they have a ton of room to merge behind you, they will make it a point to accelerate and even get into the shoulder if needed, to merge in front of you. I really don't get, and I mean this is common place, I'm actually surprised when I see someone merging normally in this area.

I actually once got pulled over by a cop for honking and flicking someone off for not letting me merge (the other driver in his Dodge RAM did the whole accelerate insanely and then brake hard next to me / in my merging spot). The cop asked me why I was driving aggressively and I was so pissed I started going off on a tirade about merging in NOVA (essentially my paragraph above ^^^, but angrier), and the cop actually let me off without asking me for my DL, he just asked me to calm down.

The thing is...the lanes aren't going to form into a single lane. It's just one (or two) lanes are curving up to become parallel to an already straight freeway. So, it's merging but the traffic should not really be merging. I'll admit, she probably did not see me but I think I should be the PO'd one since she almost ran me to a concrete barrier.

Wish there was a cop to teach that lady a lesson...

Sadly, driving in this town, after having your exact situation only being run INTO a concrete barrier a couple years ago in my S5 as an idiot not paying attention just drifted halfway into my lane, the best approach here is always make sure you're never directly next to someone. Assume every idiot in this town is either going to drift into your lane or change lanes without looking or being aware of their surroundings.

I almost want to tape my daily commutes to/from work cause as I'm sure you can relate to, the things I see on a daily basis are HORRIFYING! And dangerous. And ain't nobody gonna mess with my baby. They should hear our PE coming and just git da hell out our way! Pedestrians, too. O=)

OUCH! I don't even drive next to anyone unless the traffic demands it. I didn't I only saw her approach quickly from my right mirror. If I were to read the situation from her point of view, she probably saw someone slow in front of her. In order to prevent getting caught up, she changed lanes without looking. To be honest, the car in front of her was about 5-6 car lengths away from her...Whatever, I'm thankful that I'm alive and the car is okay.

I'm still in disbelief with how easily one of the rear tires lost it. If I was being stupid and turned off the E-nannies, that would have been it.

Ya, some biyatch not paying attention at the 10W connector to the 405S ran me into the lil concrete curb which shredded both my right side rims (@ $900 each) yet luckily there was no body damage. It's okay though cause when she heard that loud bang, she got back in her lane and put her hand up to say sorry.

After that, I'm so paranoid, I just make sure I'm always just behind or in front of any cars in the lanes next to me. Luckily, especially at freeway speeds, our cars have so much get up and go with even just a little bit of gas, we can fly past just about anyone in a flash. The most dangerous is when you find yourself on a rare, open freeway cause they just want to GO! And man I sure want to let it loose one day. So, if you ever see a high speed chase on tv in a 135is, it's probably me just seeing how fast I can get it up to. =)

Nice, I'm going to try to hit Watkins with PCA maybe in June. What clubs do you run with?

1. You'll have an instructor in the car with you so you have nothing to worry about.

2. Screw the haters, and nobody can question your choice for going DCT. Plus the DCT will perform better than any manual so more the reason to bring it on track.
