I love the note, pretty much on par with what was expected, but it's great to get a listen that is much clearer than whatever had been leaked a couple months back.

Not to rain on anyone's parade but my 135i with performance exhaust sounds very similar when the engine is cold.

Well I wonder way, maybe it has something to do with the engine which is largely the same. My N55 135i sounds a lot like that when cold, too despite being a significantly changed engine.

Yeah I'm not intending to be sarcastic. Just trying to dispel anyone's ideas that theres something special about the exhaust note because there an M badge or because its quad tipped. Quite a few 1M buyers that did not previously own an N54 before.

Have to agree - judging the sound of the 1///M based on:

1. Indoor accoustics
2. Cold start

is bound to lead people to disappointment.

With that said, I still hope that it will have a unique sound, but one can only tell once the final specimens (i.e. not pre-production mules/prototypes) get released.

I think i sounds not really special and just like any other turbo engine.
The best sound in that video comes from this old M3. In terms of engine sound, turbos suck big time

But performance is great!

Maybe the car you saw was not a finished model and was sporting a different exhaust than this particular version. They often dont finalize an auto until right before release and often make running changes while a car is already in production.
The car will sound a heck of alot different outdoors on a busy street than it will in an enclosed indoor room.
Maybe you're right also. Who knows.

The more km we put on the car, the nicer it's gonna sound!, after 10k the exauste get is real sound!, but I agree, the sound is boosted wen indoors...

We have a 335is sitting in our showroom and when started cold indoors it sounds almost identical to this. Just go get a sales person to start up a 335is outside and you will basically hear the exhaust note your going to get. The 1M might be slightly louder, but it's definitely the same sound.

That's right!
Every time I went on a demanding trip through the Black Forest, my GTI got louder and louder. Even without modyfing anything it's pretty shouty after 46k kilometers. Way to go!

Sounds typical of a cold start with exhaust. My N54 135i with Dinan exhaust sounded similar as well on a cold start.

I'm also willing to bet there's a high fidelity mic with noise filters near the exhaust pipe. It almost sounds artificially loud based on my viewing of the video. I will say this though, there's a tad more "gurgle"
