1M vs Boxter S (good video!)
Found this today and thought I'd share:
The Porsche looks quicker through some of the turns but you can see the power from the 1M on the straights! |

Same or different driver?
That's the problem with videos like this. No way to really know. When it does the thanks at the end it names 2 people and they could either be the drivers or the owners who let someone else drive. |

Way too much straight flatout to judge the 2 cars. The 1m should win on that course every time.
How I am glad to see it and that car runs at the region next to mine, sothat gives me a couple of guys to bump heads with.

since this was during Fun Runs.. and with a single driver's name... it seems pretty clear that this was the same driver (Andrew) in two cars ... David's 1M and Mike's Boxster S. The question is... what did Andrew do in his own vehicle? And what is it? |

Tires?
Any idea if hoosier is making more 19 sizes? The Boxster/ Cayman has a big advantage in A stock rubber as it stands currently.

I went over to memphisracing.com to see. Andrew looks like the local hot shoe and drove both cars. I posted a question to find out if both cars were on street tires and I bet they are.

They can run 18s, 285s up front, 285s in the back is the standard setup though I believe someone is trying to squeeze 315s.

I have a feeling that the 1m is going to be more point and shoot than the other cars. With max tq at 1500 rpms, it could be more of a mustang than an rx8.
I am interested to see some put the Hoosiers on and give it a go. I don't think I can before march of next year.

Hey all, I'm the driver in that video.
I saw that my youtube views shot up after it was embedded on this forum, and I thought that I'd register and post my thoughts on this car. I guess I'll start with answering questions that were in this thread.
Day 1 I drove this. So yeah, I'm the regional co-drive whore. I don't have a car of my own anymore that I race, so I teach people how to drive their cars fast As for the 1M, it was quite a machine. Early boost makes it awesome for AutoCross ... I'm not much of a left-foot braker so that worked out well for me. Steering input was predictable and neutral. I had the most fun slamming that skinny pedal to the floor and watching the owner in the passenger seat stomp the floor board expecting a magical brake pedal to appear. As for braking, it could rip your face off. I had no fears of braking oversteer (even though it would get out if you push it). The seats were comfy with the proper amount of bolster and I was easily able to get a comfortable distance away from the wheel, and being 6'5" that's sometimes difficult. I loved the beefy steering wheel, it really made me feel like I had a good grip on the wheel. I'm hoping that Mike and his father David continue to bring their cars out next season. They hinted at getting a spare set of wheels and tires dedicated specifically to racing! |

thanks for signing up and answering our questions! LOL about being the local a-x hired gun aka co-drive whore! It's a good gig if you can get it.. I agree with you.. dedicated a/x tire and wheel setups.. and possibly camber plates will transform the 1M from an incredibly capable machine to an outright force to be reckoned with. |

The 1M is mine and the Boxster is my Son's. They are both bone stock with the Boxster running factory 19 inch Michellin's.
Drew is a much, much better driver than I. I learned a few new lines that should help me. Overall, it is always a fund day at the autocross track. |
