135i compared to HSV GTS or FPV?

Could a 135i and proceede beat either of these to 100? to 150?(on a dragstrip)

Without starting a war here.. They cost about the same but these have ALOT of kit for the same price. So am wondering how they would compare in performance.

Even stock an HSV will have a hard time matching a 135i to 100. Weight and traction issues make them slower than you expect in a drag. With PROcede, we should be running 12s while the HSVs run 13s. No contest.

Not too sure about the new FPVs, but the F6 can run 5 flat to 100 and high 12s or just over 13. Would be close.

+ 1

a tune only 135 should have them both beat in stock form however the F6 is quicker in a straight line so it would be closer to you then the HSV. Once either of these are modified its a whole you ball game though. A mate mine has a new SS ute with the 6.0 V8 and I got him by over 4 car lengths with a tune only. After he added only an exhaust and CAI he stayed with me when I was tune only so once they are opened up they do move.

Of course. That's too easy. F6 is a different kettle of fish.
I raced the new 310kw FPV F6 on the way home from WSID the other night from 60-180 and pulled almost three cars on him. I was boosted to 18psi. The new F6 is quite aggressive once rolling.

The biggest problem with the F6 is lack of rear wheel traction, they run 245s stock wtf! Give it some decent wide rubber and it will give a tune only 135i an extremely close contest. Same goes for the new Boss 335 powered GT.

Also, nice avatar Edwin. You're gonna need more than 18psi to lug that baby around

Thanks Jeef. It may be heavy but once she's rolling it's all good. Believe me 18psi is still enough to put a smile on my face and throw the rear around with ease.

Wasn't talking bout the car (which of course is a monster), but your 1MEATR...meat. Need more boost to carry around that extra weight

FPV F6 is a nice car, the new GS/GT with the Miami engine is definetly nice aswell.

To give an example, a FPV GS runs 1/4:

11.7 Tune Only - Stock Dunlops
11.5 Tune + Exhuast - Stock Dunlops
11.4 Tune/Exhaust - MT Radials.

I have seriously looked into the FPV route. The key thing stopping me is the size of the car.

Those are probably the best ever times recorded, not average times though.

Ford and Holden are really good value for money when you compare it's performance figures on paper. However like most over-powdered saloons they struggle to transform those numbers to actual speed.

I terms of performance the 135i is faster as mentioned by the above posts. However you just can't ignore the fact that a large engine brings a huge smile on your face, and on a downside most Holden and fords are driven by dickheads these days.

Ford and Holden have one thing in common. When you sit in them and experience the interior quality you want to frown. A BMW is just so much nicer in that respect.

Too bad the FPVs drive like a boat and the HSVs look like you went to Bunnings and bolted on some slabs of plastic.

Nonetheless, Ford has an absolutely amazing engine range. If they brought the 302 Mustang over I'd be over it in an instant.

MrBlonde - Yes there from the ford forums, so i suspect they are the best times recorded on those setups.

I agree with whats be said re interior, sterotype of drivers, etc. It was the interior that made me look elsewhere. It's _shit_

I think the Fords and Holdens have come a long way and I'm very impressed with the current versions they have out. I think they look fantastic and they put down some really impressive numbers in stock form and with mods. The only thing that holds them back is the weight but you do get a lot more car for the money. They also have LSD's standard too. When I was at the drags last time I ran a few 12.2 passes and one was against a XR6 Turbo with a few mods that ran a 12.4. He had the usual bolt-ons, nothing hardcore. However, he managed to consistently trap higher than me so he would have beaten me on a roll. I'm sure if he ditched the skinny rears he had on the back he'd put down even better numbers. I've also seen a HSV VE running consistent 11s too, very impressive.

To quote the Clarkson on such things: "Like they've been driven through a Halfords' Store Front"

I give credit where it's due, the basic chassis of the VE is quite good and the engines in the Fords are bonkers. Drop the Miami in the Commodore chassis and we may have a winner.
