Question about Winter setup

Hi, I've always been drving a SUV so I have no idea what I need for my 135i this winter. I've read some threads on the forum and decided to get a set of 17" wheel and tires. I want to buy the 17" Sparco Pista wheel on tirerack but I don't know which tires I should get with it. Please give me some suggestion for the size. Should I get winter performance or studless snow? I live in Long Island so there's like two or three big snow a year. thanks.

Based on the Spacaro 17 x 8 wheels, you need to run a 215/45/17 to fit the rim width correctly.

Most popular tires on this forum is the Blizzak LM-60

I run the General Artic, and would suggest against them. The tread is too soft, so there is ton of tire squirm.
