PPF/3m installer near PCD

I searched around but couldn't find a definitive answer or suggestion. Anyone know where I could get a clear bra put on near PCD? I wil be doing PCD in November and then driving back up to the Northeast. I would like so get something put on before my drive back. Also would I order the 3m kit online and just bring it for them to install? Sorry never used or had one before.

Your better off using either blue painters tape or trakktape for the drive back, then having an installer local to you install it. Check the regional forum or your local bmwcca for a reputable installer.

Can I ask why its better to do it when I get back? Even if I had an extra day to let it set?

If you have the time, then go for it. I still wouldn't, even if I had all the time in the world. I have a great relationship with my local installer and if I ever ran into any issues with the product, I'm confident he would go out of his way. Yeah the product/install is warrantied, but you can't overlook what a good realtionship can yield.

Auto shield of the Carolinas in Charlotte, but I think you are looking at 2 days for install and letting it set to drive back. Call Steve at Autoshield, 704-321-0505.

Plus, imagine the absolute worst-case scenario, then apply to your situation of doing it outside your local area. Are you willing to accept this potential ass pain?

Yeah after thinking about the factors you mentioned I actually just ordered a roll of trakk tape. Now to find a good installer in the NJ/NY area. Thanks for all the info!

I completely agree. Steve does amazing work! Tell him that you're a member on the forum and that's Brandon told you to call him. If you schedule it, than he can have you in and out in the same day. Charlotte's not a bad place to stop and have a beer or two either (Duckworths or Taco Mac are a couple of my favorites). Let me know if you need anything or if you do end up coming around this way. Again, Steve is awesome...and most likely he'll give you the same price he gave me.

Steve does work for all of the Ferrari, Porsche, BMW, Audi, Lexus and Jaguar dealers in Charlotte. If you want me t take pictures of his work after I have mine completely...I can send them to you. Just let me know...

How much did you end up ordering? I'm looking to do the same.

I believe Papethova ordered one each of the 3"x100' and 6'x100" and used about 50% of one and 30% of the other. I'm thinking of ordering the same, but the blue tape may be faster to apply.

You could ask hasan (Syed) where the dealer had his done and how the quality turned out. He's in NY or Jurzee somewhere.

Because it takes a few days to entirely cure, and assuming you end up with bubbles/imperfections, are you willing to take the whole trip back to get warranty work performed? Or do you prefer to go ahead and spend more money on a local installer after you have already paid someone else?

Where in the northeast are you? I had mine done in Stamford, CT and am very happy with it. Its the 3M Venture Shield, if you PM me I'll look for his contact info and get that to you.
