Is it a seller's market?
Lately I have been having the GTR itch which could be another thread in itself but I will save that discussion for later. I have a 2012 135i with the M sport package, Stage 1 BMW PPK, shadowline etc. and is a 10/10 on the cleanliness scale. Some might call BS because nothing is perfect but I assure you I keep this thing pristine and garaged except for on the nicest of days. It just turned 18k miles and still has some of the new car scent when you pop open the door. KBB says the value in a private sale is about $30,700 and after searching the "Cars for Sale" thread I see many with more mileage going for around 27ish in really good condition. So is it actually possible the KBB is somewhat accurate? Of course sale prices vary from person to person and how badly someone wants the car but would anyone here actually pay that much or is that just wishful thinking? I'm in no hurry to sell it and could see my self having this car for a couple more years but curiosity got to me.

I just bought a gtr thru private sale with the intent of selling the 135. A few weeks went by and only got a few offers which I wasn't happy with selling. In the end, just decided to keep it!

I just got a fully loaded 135i with 27k miles 2 months ago from South Bay BMW for $31k so either I'm a fool or there is a market at that price.
I'd say private would be a couple grand less. You're on the borderline high side of the ballpark. You'll most likely not get KBB for it but if it is pristine you might get a private sale but you'd have to deal with the BS that goes with the private sale. Like when someone says they want to come by and see it and they end up a no call no show. |

Last month I bought a fully loaded CPO 2012 M-Sport 6MT with 23k miles and BMW PE installed for $30k. From a dealer.

bought a 2012 Msport, fully loaded (minus smokers package) with 2,300 miles, $33,595. Private party sales are good. Trade in value isn't. Dealers know they can flip these fast, and they try to maximize profits with them.

Good to hear all the positive replies. Every month I pay a good chunk more on my loan, so I guess for now I will keep building up equity. But, if someone gave me $30k for it tomorrow I'd make a nice little profit and have a good start to a solid down payment on a 12/13 GTR after another 6-12 months. I do agree with private sales being a pain, but last car I sold privately went quick and problem free. It'd be nice if they were all like that.

Just a observation... With the recent strength of the USD, there are quite a few Canadian cars to be had at a bargain. There's a Canadian 1M on this site for $41k, and I've been watching a few Canadian Porsches on ebay selling at a 10-15% discount to their US counterparts.
