What is this?

Dropped my pencil and it rolled under my car. To my surprise I see something hanging from the bottom of my car when I reached to get it. What is it?

I don't really like how it is just dangling there

Looks like a piece of the undertray broke off.

Mine did the same thing.

ahh, should I just let it be as is, or should I try to put it back on, or remove it?

Is it because some mechanic didn't secure it properly or perhaps you hit something and broke it which means a good inspection for further damage is necessary. If you always go to the same garage, best to go back to them in any case.

Its this:

#19 Deflector lip, underbody shield 2 51752996519 $5.56

it did its job, deflected something from hitting the gas tank. Looks like the ear is torn off, but its possible to put it back with a washer if needed..

If you dont replace it it will flap and make annoying noise.

Well, the last time my car has been in any garage was two weeks ago when I took my car for its service. I don't think I can prove it was them seeing how it was so long ago.

I don't recall hitting any bumps or anything on the road recently.

ill just try to fix it myself i guess
