how to tell if I have PPK on 2013 135i
So I bought a CPO 2013 135i and prior to delivery I asked and paid for the dealer to install the PPK. Since I never experienced the car before PPK, I'm not sure if they actually did it or not. I got the sticker and plaque along with an envelop which references PPK. However when I read posts about pops and burbles I dont think I hear that with my car atleast not with stock exhaust, is that only with the BMW PE exhaust? IS there a way for my local dealer to be able to run a diag and see it has ppk?

Only way I would think is for a dyno test. It's only an extra 20 BHP, which isn't much. But if you haven't driven the car prior then you wouldn't be tell if there is a difference or not.
On a stock exhaust system, you're not going to get much sound like a PE or any other aftermarket exhaust would give. |

Ok thanks, I just keep reading about these gurgles and pops but I dont really hear that. I'm thinking of getting the BMW PE so that it opens it up a little more. ITs a tad on the quiet side, maybe I'll try the golf tee mod first.

It does take a while for the engine and computer to fully adjust to the PPK tune. I believe around 1k+ miles. It needs to be broken in before you get all the pops and bangs. I had the same concern when I had mine installed by the dealer.

You need to push the sports button and shift the transmission knob to the left (Sport) to have all the pops and burbles. Once you left the gas pedal you will feel the jerk and hear the amazing sounds.

This will make it really obvious Also it will feel & sound different when manually shifting with or w/o the sport button pressed.

PPK makes burbles even without the PE.
Here's what you should hear when revving the engine in neutral. I mean, if you paid your dealer to do it and they installed the stickers even, you probably have it. lol. http://vocaroo.com/i/s0R9htS66oEO

Wow that sounds really good for just the ppk then. I didn't realize it did so much. I wish it wasn't so complicated on the 2013 cars

Is it different for the 2013 cars? It just keeps the flapper valve in the exhaust open all the time. The golf tee mod, that is.

Yeah I meant the PPK not the golf tee mod. I have a different exhaust but for my car the PPK is super expensive since it can't be done by a third party.

Yeah, that's true. I think it's somewhere in the neighborhood of $500 or 600 at the dealer, something like that. Haven't checked recently. The coders are much cheaper.

Yep mine was about $650 out the door. I have a 2013 dct with stock exhaust and use normal drive mode 95% of the time. With my windows down I hear the pops and gurgles but its at lower speeds when my music and wind noise doesn't drown it out; they mostly happen when I flick the paddles to downshift or in lower gears when I just release the gas pedal. You should hear them.

DCT has more overrun burbles. :/ I am no burble-crack-pop fetishist, but I wouldn't mind a bit more, or at least if they weren't as predictable.
