Sub Total: $375.27 Shipping: $86.05 Total: $461.32

i'm pretty sure that's as cheap as it gets

also, i'm going to have to give a shout out to Doug @ Turner for otherwise exemplary service assistance and extremely quick replies, dealing with my email query in real time

sadly, th price difference of $461 shipped to $7xx shipped is WAY too high for me to consider OEBMW parts.. even if i don't get an ///M logo, i'm not driving an M car, my vin doesn't say i am, but i 'm more than happy to go around corners faster than one

Places like turner and the like have the kits for $599 plus post or thereabouts

confirmation they're the real thing.

ED: since it doesn't include the headlight rod, somewhere like http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/Head...t_Rod/ES66416/ - looks like it's only a $10-$15 item, nothing to stress over or make this any less of a bargain..

Not sure what you're looking at exactly. Assume you mean this http://www.oembimmerparts.com/produc...ontrkitoem.htm

That doesn't look like M3 components, just regular E9X gear. Also it does not include the headlight regulating rod.

have a look at the two items after that, 'M3' ones (the only m3 ones in the list though)

my bad, so it's only ~$200 cheaper when you factor in the rod...... (i'm assuming USPS first class shipping to australia would also be $10-$15 for such a small item, less within the states, compared to the ridiculous express price)

ED: though i think you might be able to find the rod elsewhere for closer to $10, that was the first google result, will hunt further

I'm still interested as I don't expect the rod to cost very much. Intersting that they don't sell it or supply the full control arms in a kit, like they do for the standard E9X series. In the end, the freight is still expensive. Also, have not personally purchased from this vendor before.

i had a google about them, he seems active on bimmerforums, among others, with everyone who has dealt with him/the company raving

i mean.. i replied to my email last night, it would have been a saturday (possibly sunday early?) for him!

i'm quite happy to be the first purchaser from them as a test mule? lol

inc freight from somewhere like turner totals about $$720-$750ish shipped, which is a tiny bit less than local (M3 control arms and castor arm inc headlight rod $770 *PLUS SHIPPING* - quoted from southernbm)

inc the rod shipped from elsewhere, it would be about $600 flat

ED: ooh, since about a week ago when i complained to turner about their shipping cots, looks like they've fixed it a bit

$676.24 (USD) from them $76.29 (USD) shpiping, it was way over $700 when i emailed them last

so it comes down to a $70 saving

possibly if i emailed oembimmerparts about shipping costs it would come down a bit too though, so, i'll see how that works out

I couldn't see any M logos on the M3 parts in their photos. It says made by TRW?

Also, had a look at the brakes section and the 'OEM 3 series' pads seem way too cheap.

The cheapest place I could find was ECS for $550ish.

what do you mean $550?
http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E82-128.../Braking/Pads/
$110 there.. so the $60 or whatever bimmerparts list is probably still fine.

as in the OP (and everything i could find on google) TRW is the OEManufacturer for the M3 suspension components - same part numbers and all.

and even for aftermarket applications, they have a good reputation.

these don't have the M3 stamp as far as i can tell yeah, if that's your thing.. personally.. i'm not driving an M car nor do i want to pretend to, but i'd like to have M car handling, so the parts matter, the 'branding' doesn't.

here you go!

http://www.turnermotorsport.com/show...-right-e82-e9x

zoom in on that, the M3 part on Turner has TRW stamped

they don't even seem to have M logos? just TRW. Probably not getting them from BMW or something

They might be the same parts but in the end I'm after the M3 components as I plan to do an M3 conversion. The photos on ECS website show the M logo. I suspect they are not the same if the M logo is missing.

Also the price difference in E9X brakes seems high. I understand if it's $10-$20. But it's nearly half the price for 'OEM'.

i doubt that turner would be in the business of selling 'fake' control arms.

can you post a link to where ECS even sells them? they're not on http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E82-135...n/Control_Arm/ that page at all

ED:
http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/31102283577/ES257208/

ah it does too, right in the middle

ah so does the turner one, i just noticed

but they both say trw, and have exactly the same part number - i can't even be sure that the OEMbimmerparts one doesn't have ///M stamped on it - it probably does - i zoomed in on the (too small) image, and it looks like there's something similar looking stamped there

will find out when i get them anyway?

even if it doesn't... $150 or something for ///M stamp. and what if it turns out that the OEMbimmerparts one still even has the stamp?

either way, you're paying more for the EXACT same part for no reason.

I can see the M logos in the ECS photos. Can't see TRW anywhere?

Anyways, you will probably be ordering before me so you will be the guinea pig

If I do place an order with ECS I usually add other bits and pieces to make it up to 1k and to combine shipping.

circled it for you (was hard enough to find haha) - have to make the image 'original size' and you can read it

plus, cross check the part numbers on all 3 sites (ECS/turner/OEMbimmer) and they're all exactly the same.

when i get a reply about the shipping from OEMbimmerparts i'll get together exactly the price difference between everywhere - i do need to get myself a clutch delay valve and windscreen wiper blades...

That's cool. I'm keen to know the difference in price. It would be easier if ECS price-matched this vendor so I could order some other stuff I needed though. Doubt the would do that.

just sent emails to both ECS and turner to see if they'll come any closer in pricing too, no harm in trying? . i'd also like a CDV, wiper blades.. and if they came down enough, possibly some rear m3 bits.

Don't be like me and waste $20 on a CDV. Just punch out the middle of the one that's currently on your car and you're good to go - CDV deleted

I was thinking i'd keep my stock one in case i ever wanted to swap back, but i guess why would i? Lol

So the ones you purchase are just the same as oem but with the metal bit punched out? No actual enlargement (drilling/something) at all? That's still a lot smaller than the clutch line/inlet port no? So still a restriction?

Are there any that are properly enlarged so it's smooth the whole way through? (or would that actually be a bad thing?)

Will do, should get a reply by this time tomorrow or so

Garage List
2008 BMW 128i  [10.00]
TRW is stamped on official bmw m3 the wishbones, I saw it in an image search I did. The stamp is on the lower rubber mounting. I found it while searching for wishbones on ECS. The image in question is the European genuine m3 wishbone, when searched by realoem part#.

TRW is the OEM and possible OE, everyone should feel confidant with the Brand.

ECS even has the TRW branded oem parts, they are along side the official bmw parts!!!!!!!
Their price is cheaper then OEMbimmer parts!!!!! Shipping is the unknown

I am certainly interested in this @ this low price its a no brainer, just concerned about shipping cost and then the surprise customs fee u get at ur door.

PS. I am yet to find any rear m3 control arms from TRW on sale in NAmerica

Also, I am not sure what components are easy to swap. ECS has kits that include lots of hardware, so may be easier to get the kits.

Sorry flinchy, I'm only going by what I've read on the forums here.... after I made my purchase! . So I'm not sure about the specifics or the internals of our OEM CDV. The one I purchased still hasn't gone in yet - just going to get it all done at once

You do not want to use a drill bit... bc you will never get out all the metal shards from inside the CDV. All that is needed is too use a 3mm punch to knock out the restrictor from inside the stock CDV. Or buy a new CDV from your dealer and mod that part. That is what I did...

You can see the restrictor inside the CDV here...

insert a 3mm punch... and whack it with a small hammer...

you can see the restrictor in my hand along with the mod'd cdv
