How do other road users treat you when you're in your BMW?

I've had my E90 for just under two weeks now, and it just gets better every day. I decided to go for an ex-demo 325i SE with 6500 miles on the clock because it was loaded with extras - Nav pro, active steering, television, cd changer, bluetooth, sports package, leather, bluetooth, voice activation, hi-fi music system.

I've posted a few pictures here...

http://www.dpetc.com/gallery.php?id=433

There aren't too many E90s on the road in the UK right now, so the car gets lots of attention from people as I drive past!

One question: How do you find other road users treat you? I'd heard that people never let you out of side streets if you drive a BMW, but so far I've not found that to be true - everyone seems to give way now - maybe it's because the car looks mean?

No problems in Canada, except tuned Civics trying to catch up from the light all the time. Can't wait as my break in period is over.

E90 is not that rare in my place here.

Last week I was in big traffic and let in this red Avenger, I saw the driver waving but it was hard to see because of the window tint (I could make out that it was a female though). She seemed very happy that I let her in and didn't stop waving. That's when the rear passenger started waving as well. If that wasn't enough, the front passenger opened her window, got her arm out and her head halfway through, and started waving too!

I was like... What's going on here?

But I'll admit it's always nice being waved at by 3 gorgeous looking chicks.

This is actually true, but being the nice guy that I am, I feel bad afterwards.

And I don't drive like an ass in my car, I actually drive with more etiquette in the BMW than when I'm in the family Benz. This one girl in a Jetta flicked me off for going the speed limit...lol

Lots of Bimmers in L.A. (where I live). I always get treated like an asshole no matter what I drive.

That's how it is for most of every L.A. driver, but by far Calabasas is the worst! All these damm soccer moms that don't know how to drive, it's disgusting.

I remember one time I was out driving a 330i this G35 wouldn't let me over when I tried to change lanes, then he sped up, I pushed my right foot down and got ahead, wasn't even a sport pack equipped model. Can't believe Infiniti owners think they have something on BMW.

When I use bluetooth feature in my car, people look at me WEIRD.

Since I am not holding a phone or using an ear piece, from outside I guess it looks like I am just talking to myself.

I remember the day I picked my TiAg 330i, I was let out of umpteen side streets by several Audi drivers, one police car & one fire engine!
I'm assuming it was so that they could have a good look at the new 3-series- there's still not many around the UK.

You should know this already, but in Toronto, BMW's, especially the 3 series are pretty much Civics here. Nothing special about them at all to people, they don't care.

funny you have asked, I get mixed reactions, but some of the memorable ones are:

1. Driving in 495 Wash DC Beltway fast/middle lane, I've noticed an Audi A4 on my rear view mirror, trying to speed up so he can get a better look at an E90. I put the gear in DS mode and gasup, when I saw him catching up, I put the gear on 4th and ran away with it, he was smiling as I loose him, but he persisted to catch me, then i slowed down to have his day under the sun.

2. Another day on the same beltway, I was driving a little over speed limit, and I noticed a Scion, trying to speed along side with me and showing his stuff. This aint a match! I said, but blew him away, and later had him catch me, to make his day.

3. I was behind a E46 on the fast lane, and we were both stuck behind a slowpoke, and lanes were blocked.
As soon as the right lane open, the E46 switched lanes to pass, while I tag behind, and after we pass the car infront, the E46 provided me room to get ahead her, Was it because Im in a E90?

4. Driving on the parkway fastlane once, I noticed a older 5 series gotten a glimpse of my E90, and speedup alongside with me on the middle lane just to keep a close watch on newer E90. I just kept the Status Quo

5. There are few occasions that cars on the fast lane, would move soon as I ride their tail, and slowing backoff to have them see my plates, and slowing creep up again!

6. wonder if it makes a difference, them seeing .......

"3VOM"

..... other than that, I also get a honk, a finger or two!

No special treatments here, too many BMWs in the bay area. Unless you are an enthusiast, an E90 is just "another BMW", and I haven't bumped into any enthusiast yet. But my friend tells me that a lot of people stare at my car. Honestly, no idea, I've never noticed.

It usually feels like every other car in the Boston area is a BMW. But I got some special attention the first couple of months when there weren't many E90's around. Some of that is still there but it's dwindling as there are more E90's are out there now.

BTW, the title of this thread feels a little pretentious "How the other drives treat me when I'm in my BMW? Why they all get out of their cars and bow as I pass them, of course!"
