Bad end to a good weekend
I went down to Cape Cod for the holiday. I had the top down all the way on Thursday, and it was gorgeous with little fluffy clouds. Spent the 4th on Martha's Vineyard where I saw a gold/taupe 128 vert in the wild. Watched fireworks on the beach (2 legal shows and 4-5 amateur shows with contraband NH fireworks). Passed another 1er, a white/taupe vert, on the way home from fetching pizza on Saturday when it did nothing but rain - that was a good day indoors watching movies. Drove home this afternoon, and after an overcast morning, the sun came out so it was top down all the way home. Passed a silver 128 vert on the home stretch on 95 near Dedham. Gave a wave, not sure if they noticed/waved back.
And then, the idiot pickup truck in front of me veers off onto the shoulder briefly and kicks up stones. One of which took a small bite out of my windshield. Guess getting fixed is now the priority for the week. amy! |

What? An idiot pickup truck? I thought they were all in my neck of the woods! ; )
Sorry to hear that. It is fixable. I once had a 10-day-old car that got hit with a hailstorm to the tune of $2k. It got fixed. I got over it. Yours will be as good as new soon. And, remember the fun you had over the weekend with a sweet car to drive. I would imagine you could do a repeat for Labor Day. Mike |

Amy I had a truck throw up a small rock two days after I picked her up. It was superficial <no spidering>, yet still heartbraking. I know how you feel

You might have a glass deductible which much lower than the regular one. Some windshield shops even do partial deductible compensation. I got a new windshield for my old MR2 Turbo for like $40 one time.

Sorry to hear about the stones Amy. OT though, I have been up to Cape Cod before for the fourth and it's beautiful. It's funny you mention Martha's Vineyard as that's one of the places I clearly remember.

I hate it when that happens. There is a lot of construction going here and a lot of "rocks" on the side of the road. Seems trucks always like to drive there .. I have several chips and window (small chips) .. I try to avoid those areas if possible ..

I wouldnt be surprised if the pick-up didnt make the move on purpose, knowing that he would kick up those stones. I try to stay away from trucks. I know Im being cynical but I'm 60yo and have had that happen to me.

I know what it is like, I just posted first about having a flat tire that had to be replaced after I had driven 5 miles from the dealer after picking it up and then the day after I picked up after having the tire replaced getting a rock chip. But I was able to get it fixed this weekend and while it is still visible I at lease don't have to buy a new windshield. So everything is good.

I almost always get a windshield chip right after I get my new cars. It's strange. It's happened so many times that I now think of it as a Christening.
Could have been much worse. Amy, glad to hear you are driving with the top down! The 1er makes for a great 'vert! My Porsche Carrera S Cab is parked for now... LOL!

Amy, on a semi-bright note, at least in MA, you get free replacement windshields as part of insurance. Ask for OEM, or else you'll get aftermarket though.
