Oils problem ??

Hi Everybody,

Yesterday i went for a recall and in the same time I asked my dealer tu put 1L
of oil because on my dashbord they said tu put.The dealer told me they doesn`t need to add oil because it is full.

I have a stupid question.I never check my oil when my car is cold.Only when I`m at the good temperature.BMW check when my car is cold.It possible it have a big difference like that ? Me I never saw that.Even when I bought the car when the oils is hot the oils stay full. Now I`m scare to put because the dealer told me to don`t add.

Thanks for your help !

Since the system will not give you an accurate oil reading until the oil is warm, I'm not quite understanding how the dealer checked the oil when cold.

If you had a reading when you first started your car, that was most likely the previous reading which was stored from when you last drove it. for more info, see your owner's manual under "Engine Oil - Checking Oil Level".

Bottom line, if your dealer says it's OK, don't worry about it. And if you get a low oil warning, take it immediately to your dealer so they can see it.

Ok thanks ! I feel like I`m not anymore in security with my dealer if it`s the case.
