Finally Sound System pics! (stealth set up)

I have the following in my system:
-Alpine CDA-9887 sirius and ipod in glove box
-Focal 6.5" 3 Way Polykevlar (1" tweet, 4" midrange, 6.5 inch Woofer
-Steg 4/02 Amplifier
-JL Audio 10W7 ported enclosure

It sounds amazing with one of the sickest front stages I have ever heard. There is so much detail and presence with the 3 way setup. the doors will give you guys an idea of what can be done in this car as far as woofers. Enjoy!

No offense, it may sound superb, but I've still yet to see an aftermarket setup that looks at least decent. Not bashing on you, its just my taste and opinion.

what did you do with the on-board computer link to the factory radio? I would assume a stand-alone type set-up?

I agree...strictly my opinion...and I'm sure it sounds incredible, but aesthetically speaking, it looks like you butchered a perfectly good BMW interior.

However, "to each his own". Rock on! :headbang:

^ Yep. Pretty darn distasteful. But I suppose beauty is in the eye of the beholder...

Got to be honest, i simply cannot see the point! I dont want to be rude but you have wasted half the boot of the car, ruined the door cards and that dash layout looks dreadful!

I hope you are happy with it, and love the sound of it, but its not for me. but then i am not that bothered about music, i like to listen to it while driving, but i dont want my ears to bleed!

But hey if you are happy with it then thats great, but i wouldn't buy your car. Sorry.

Tough crowd. The factory stereo just don't quite do it for me. I'd love an aftermarket system and seems like the OP have decent setup. The Achilles' heel in his system is the installation, which seem circa 1990s. At this age, if aftermarket Hifi company don't step up the game, they are asking to be bought out by manufacturers or shut their doors.

No offense, but "stealth" means to not be seen. There isn't much "stealth" to that setup at all, but I'm sure it sounds good.

Very nice. I am sure it sounds great, Focal make fantastic speakers. Also the JL Audio subs are top notch. I bet it sounds totally awesome.

I think the trunk and door speaker (keep the grille black) are very clean. The dashboard player just stands out too much for me. How hard was it to swap out the speakers?

the goal of my system was to keep it very simple and stock looking. I wasn't going for any flash, just cleanliness with sound quality in mind.

The on board computer still works only with the levers.

I was willing to make a few sacrifices in the trunk and dash for good sound. I've got pretty picky ears.

You could have chosen a HU with BMW steering wheel harness. You might check to see if one is available for your new HW so you can use the SW buttons for control.

When I changed out the HU in my other vehicles a SW harness was available for all of them...probably $30-$40 charge.

I'm leaving the 135i system as is...

Focal, can't get any better. They are very picky speakers when it comes to placement & enclosures, so maybe what was done needed to be done with them. You could have saved a lot of space with the sub enclosure... it's too big. The install is clean though. Yes there is an plug in for the SW buttons avail. True, nothing stealth about it.

It's a nice setup but I think this sound system thing is more like back in 2000 when those spinners were hot. I had a sound system my self in my sedan but I'm not feeling it anymore so it is up for sale on ebay right now if anyone is interested.

I guess we have more performance enthusiast on this forum than things that make our bimmers look like it's a caprice.
