Small, cheap mod

I bought a used diffuser off the classifieds for $50 to do this experiment. Some dremmel, plasti-dip and gutter guard and you can see the before and after.

I hate the grey diffuser, looks stupidly cheap. If it was at least gloss black...

Great BMW roundel by the way. Where did you buy it may I ask?

I saw that already. But if you would try to cut also on both sides like it is marked it would be almost Performance diffuser.

I thought about doing that when I cut my stock diffuser up. Problem is, only 3 sides of the rectangles are recessed. The middle edge will be ugly without a lot of work.

That looks really good. I have been wanting to do the same thing for quite some time but haven't been able to find another diffuser.

You can buy one from ECS or one of the other forum vendors for like $75-80 I think.

Nice idea, but that might be beyond my capabilities with a dremmel

Did mine about a year ago with a cutter knife and liquid nail to hold the mesh in place. Very easy and cheap..

I think you just have to draw one straight line. But not sure never seen how it looks from inside

Mine. Jet black with satin clear, didn't want too much shine.

There's some markings on the inside. When I was doing it I was more concerned with how soft the plastic is. Getting the bevel on the opening to look the same on both sides would be a nightmare. I don't mean it's not possible, but wow, I wouldn't want to do it.

Another note: the spaces on the sides sit slightly elevated to the main hole in the middle. If they were cut out it might look uneven, another thing that stopped me from trying since I was working on my only diffuser. On the performance diffuser and other models the three holes are placed level with one another.
