Yep, swing on by any time. We have the Pole Positions installed in an M3 and 135 here and we also have plenty of new seats in stock. Local pick-up is always encouraged.

I really like these seats...I just don't like the idea of no airbag functionality. Any ideas guys?

Only what is already presented. A more serious issue would be if the airbag went off without someone being fastened in.

Why not just get the BMW Performance Recaros? As I understand it, they have airbags built in like the factory seats. Correct?

BMW Performance Seats will not work correctly in a US vehicle, different methods of occupancy detection are used.

Thank you all at eas for your help thus far. I just need to think this over for a bit. It's a daily driven car, and though I'm not planning on ever being in an accident, it's just something to think about.

On a somewhat related note, since these seats will disable airbag deployment, maybe removing the airbags is an option to think about when doing this mod?

Great advice! I'm glad someone else was thinking about safety concerns from racing seats.

The 135 project is a daily driver, seating height and position is very comfortable for everyday use.

Seats will drop a bit lower if the sliders are removed, this is more suited for taller drivers or track use (helmet clearance).

Just found the answer. Each non power seat=54 pounds. Did anyone install race seats? I am looking at this as my next mod and would like to hear some feedback/reviews.

I have the powered seats. I pulled them both and run Corbaeu TRS's; not as "glamorously safe" as some would say, but they are damn good at holding me in them. I run schroth harnesses and a BRracing cage/harness bar. I daily like that now because the stockers feel so chevy like after coming out of these.

I would love a set of recaros, but the price of the seats are high already, but it's rediculous what you have to pay for the installation hardware. (Brackets, sliders, oc3, etc.)

Its true. The price of recaro seats plus installation hardware is very high especially if you go for two seats. Now that i am thinking about it more, my sport stock seats are preatty good when i drive like a mad man at the track. If i compare these seats to my previous e46m3, its a day and night. My rear end was sliding in all directions lol. I think i will just remove a passinger seat for the weight saving purpose and put it back when track season is over. Will save 54 pounds that way. Do you know whats involved with just passanger seat removal? Will i get some codes thrown?

4 bolts (torx 40 I believe) and one cable connector. You should get an airbag light. Not sure if the passenger removal disables the driver airbag, but I know the driver removal disables the passenger airbag. Hence the reason for harnesses and ultimately the roll bar/cage.

Wait, what?

Removing the driver's seat disables the passenger side airbag?

That's what my dash lights are telling me. The emulator in the link above also says that the airbag is disabled even when you are using that.
