How to find boost levels?

Newbie question here : without Jb4 or any other piggy back tune device, can I find the boost levels? I am suspecting a leak - I hear a loud woosh when I let off the gas pedal and also feel reduced power. But no check engine light. I recently changed spark plugs and there is a chance I didn't put the intake boot back properly. Also put in new charge pipe. So there is a good chance of error in both systems. Any suggestions?

I am pretty sure I’ve done my best checking CP and air intake connections. Probably if I can’t get the boost level by myself, I’ll have to take it to a shop.

I would triple check your charge pipe.

You can use an OBD reader hooked up to your phone as a boost guage. I have this one: https://www.amazon.com/ScanTool-4261.../dp/B006NZTZLQ
It works great for looking at anything your car doesn't have a gauge for like coolant temp, boost, actual gps speed, etc. I also use it to overlay engine RPM and throttle position on my track and autocross videos.

Good stuff. Thanks. As I'm typing this, I am at the shop for a smoke test. Hopefully there's a loose connection and I can fix it easily. That will put my OCD to rest.

Found a crack in air intake duct. Part number 13717599286. I couldn't see it as it was the underside. Hopefully that's all of it.

how reliable is this product for codes??
I see its much cheaper than the carly so I figured it would b just a glorified gauge cluster..
but, then I noticed in the additional pics.. it does read codes.. if this thing is spot on.. its deff worth the money..

Can you post a picture of the crack?

Well that wouldn't be a boost leak (obviously) considering thats the inlet pipe.

If you were just hearing a whoosh but didn't notice any loss of power when in boost, ya that could have been it but if it was a power issue and not just a sound I don't think you've found your problem.

Makes sense... the smoke test showed no other leak yet. Definitely the car is more responsive now. Without a boost gauge or dyno test, I can't tell for sure if the car is making as much power as it should.

I'm not sure how good it is at reading codes yet. Luckily I haven't had any permanent check engine lights come on in this car. I did have one come on at an autocross a couple months ago before I had this reader but after restarting the car it went away and hasn't come back. When I first got this reader I tried to look for stored codes but it said there weren't any.

Get the right cables and MHD logging. Cheap easy and you will see every important factor when logging. If you are not hitting boost targets and load targets you have an issue with you boost piping leaks. Of course when you install this software you'll want to flash a tune. Then the conversion will really light up.
