Im seiously considering picking up a set of 18" Advan RZs. I currently am running a 225/40 255/35 on my stock suspension and I need to replace my tires, I am planning on sticking with PS2s, but I my change for something cheaper if I have too, like Conti SC 3s or Star Specs.

I am wondering if this size is as large as I can go in terms of tires on the stock suspension without rubbing and or fender rolling, or if I can bump it up to a 235/265.

225 and 255 with 18 will look nice a thick/full already. I rub with 235/19 upfront, but I think I might be able to go 265 rears. What is the offset and wheel size you are looking at for your advans? I have 19x9.5 and 19x10.5 I think that 9.5 and 10.5 make a big difference when it comes to rubbing with a 9 and 10 I wont be rubbing up front. if you are looking at 18x9 or lower with 225 you wont rub. As always it all depends on the tire too. Toyos and Falkens and even Hankooks will clear it. 225 and 255 are safe its it 18x9 and 18x9.5 or smaller.

225 and 255 (245 to be safe) no problem then. no rub.

Ive run a 225/255 setup for the last year with zero rub. Mostly wondering if anybody thinks that I can squeeze an extra 10mm of rubber front and rear with these wheels.

Then how about this. would a 235 in the front rub all of the time? Ive seen cars with tires that will only rub on a full lock turn. Would that be the case with a 235?

it all depends. if you want to run PS2s and lower it it will on bumps and dips slightly. if you run another tire brand (toyo/falken/hankook) and less aggressive drop or no drop at all then no. What is the ET on the advans you are looking at anything lower than 45 in the front will stick out and rub. But since it is 18.8 front that extra .5" helps give you a bit more clearance. Its really hard to tell given all they things you need/want to look at. I would go the safe route first or if you're adventurous like me I would go push the limit. I currently need a fender roll up front.

Thanks for the help.

I would say you won't have a problem with 235 and 265 on stock height even BUT it would be safer to go 225 and 255 (will not rub 95% of time, not sure about passengers and drop) of course with advans you would want a drop even if its a minimal one. So 225 and 255 is the way to go. It will still look very trackish and thick enough. 235 and 265 would look too thick/square on 18s anyway.

Also, check this out: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showp...&postcount=119

He has Dunlop Z1s on the advans you want with 225/40 (if you can get 225/35 it might help with clearance in the front for a drop, 40 is a little too high) and 255/35 on stock height they already look full and will rub with an agressive drop (he's on stock, which is pretty nice, but an eibach or bmw performance drop would have set it off.)

Thanks. I plan on doing a ~ .5-1 inch drop some time in the future. Thanks for all of the help.

I appreciate it. I would rather not have the extra 10mm up front than lose my PS2s. Thanks for all of the help. But soon it will be time to tighten up the suspension. My fronts from last year are really badly scared from how much the car pushed at the limit. But I dont think that im planning on driving the 135i that hard again any time soon.
