Out of Warranty Issue in Headlight
My 09' 135i went out of Warranty last March 31, two months before the dealer replaced both headlight bulbs under warranty, now one of them is not working properly,it does not iluminate the road at all, it only lights up very dimly, the other one lights up the road perfectly. My question is, being the case that the dealer replaced both bulbs of the headlights under warranty, and the car is out of warranty at the moment, does the bulb itself has any warranty. Does the part itself replaced by the dealer has a warranty? Any input will be appreciated.Thanks.

You get 2years unlimited mile warranty on any part that the dealership replaces. That doesn't mean if they replaced the bulb and the ballast dies that its covered however.

OK, I'll nibble...
Couldn't a case be made that the problem in the ballast existed before warranty expiration and the dealer fixed the symptom and not the cause? With such a short TBF I'd certainly try to make a point somehow, unless you've molested your lighting yourself. It all depends on your dealer relationship. That's a lesson I have learned (the hard way) about BMW service. If you don't like one dealer's response, try another. My dealer will go to the ends of the earth to please, but show up with a mod, evidence of neglect or misuse or even just a dirty car (!) and they show a decidedly more indifferent hue. Good luck and keep us posted!

Excellent point, thanks. My dealer,is usually very cooperative. Also,my headlights are a 100% original,I have never changed anything on them, as a matter of fact,my car is a 100% original and has only been touched and worked on by the local dealer, actually car has only 15K miles right now. I called them and they told me to bring the car tomorrow morning and the problem will get fixed hopefully under warranty.

Went to the dealer today and they replaced the bulb on the drivers side headlight at no cost and found the left steer motor of the adaptive headlights faulty, which will also be replaced at warranty as it was replaced about two months ago. Excellent service by Autogermana, our local dealer.
