Previous 135i owners
I've done a search and couldn't find anything specific. My question is approx what percentage of 1M owners were 135 owners.
I'm one of them. At a recent bmw meet up, three quarters of 1m owners came out of the 135i. I remember when ordering my 135 asking the salesman about any future M cars in the 1-series. Very unlikely. I feel that BMW found the target market perfectly for the 135i, but that owners wanted more out of the car from factory. Just curious. Really enjoyed my 135, but as soon as the 1M was released, I was plotting how to get one in my garage without taking the hit financially on the old 1er |

Not an ex 135 owner but ex 1-series owner. Started off with a 125i, sold it and bought an E93 335i, tuned it, and found myself missing the agility and look of the 1. I promised myself I would get the next 1er coupe but when the 1M came out I put myself down for one and here I am.
A friend offered me to take his A45 allocation but I refused. I really do see myself keeping this car for a VERY long time. This has been discussed many a time

Thinking about it we had four 1er: 120D, 125i, 135i, and now the 1M. I would have bought the 1M if it was available when I had the 135i so I just jumped straight onto it as soon as it was announced.

When it came out in autumn 2004 I had a 120d E87 6MT for half a year.
Such a great little car, agile, superb steering etc. OK the suspension with the 17 inch RFTs was a bit hard(understatement) and the 4 pot diesel though high mpg not exactly a fast engine(163BHP) But still. Having owned several E90(330i/335i/M3) I 'm glad I'm back in the 1 series department. This is the car I was waiting for after my ex E46 M3. Just great, just great. Cheers Robin |

I think the better question here is who almost bought a 135 but wasn't feeling the heat until the 1M arrived. Me...well I was happy as a clam in my Mk1 and Mk2 Mini S. I flirted with the 135 but it just didn't speak to me. I bought the 1M on a purist's gamble like I bet a lot of us did. Wen the reviews started lauding the car I got a small inkling of how good it was. And then I bought it and drove it for the first time.
Cherry popped. Ain't gonna cheat on this beauty. |

Not an ex-135i owner, still very much a current 135i owner along with our 1M.
