No need for clamps at all. In fact, when handling heavy duty 3M, if you press down the wrong way (too hard) during installation, that thing will stick instantly and you may have to do it all over again. It cures in minutes!

Pics of OEM Performance Spoiler installed with Betalink on AW

An hour of messy hands and frustration led me to use a butter knife to layer the tar on the back in "just the right amount" as to not overflow out the sides!

This thread couldn't be more timely as I have a CF deck spoiler for my Z4MC scheduled to deliver tomorrow. In retrospect, would it be better to use 3M (exterior) double sided tape?

Sorry for your mess, keep us posted.
Disregard my previous question about 3M tape... I should have read the entire thread before asking!

Does anyone have any input as to how well 3M double sided tape removes after a few years of exterior elements? I know most people probably never remove the spoiler once its on, but I'm curious if it cures over the years like the adhesive on the back of stock chrome lettering/numbering.

After 1.5 years I removed it to reposition it. When I did the original install I had mine a bit crooked. It was very easy to remove. Just grab a strong string like fishing line, and carefully saw it out. Comes off pretty easily just be careful not to scratch your paint. Then, the excess just remove with goo-gone. Apply new tape and you are set!

Sorry to bring back the topic.

Just about to buy the betalink K1 for my front splitter(328iM) and found this thread.

After I read all of the replies I decide not to use betalink.

I installed my CF spolier with 3M double sided tapes and no problem at all.

So I am thinking now to use 3M on my splitter instead of using Betalink.

Note: My CF spolier came with 3M double sided tapes originally. I am sure my CF spolier is real because I purchased from one of the BMW dealer in US.
Only in the installation guide for front splitter, it shows that Betalink should be applier. Why to use Betalink for CF spoiler since it already got 3M tapes on?
