Android with 2011 135i 6FL

I've been seeing a ton of threads regarding the connection of Android phones to these cars, but not much concrete info. I have a Samsung Note 4 and a 135i M-Sport with HiFi and the 6FL option.

What is the best way to connect to my car with this phone? I have a bluetooth adapter (that suck) from my old car that I will keep if I can expect problems with the new (to me) car.

Thanks!

Full build list here if that helps, things I thought were relevant in red:

In for some answers as well!
I've been doing a lot of searching and I haven't found anything so far... It seems like you need the iDrive option to be able to have A2DP Bluetooth for streaming. I haven't found any way to be able to stream music from Google Play Music to my car, at least not digitally...

What are you looking to do exactly?

Just got the car and I've been messing with it for a while. The built in Bluetooth will NOT work for streaming music. However I was able to pair my Note 4 to the car without any issues at all.

For now I'll use BT for phone functions and Aux for music with Spotify.

As a permenant solution I may go with the Blackberry Gateway. While pricey, it seems like this is the best option for our cars.

I managed to get the Bluetooth interface working for music for our options using an android app that forces the sound to be outputted to specific devices (i.e. bluetooth, usb, phone speaker, aux, etc.). However, the sound was horrible (mono, and really bad quality, no bass and all) because it was not an A2DP interface.

I'm in the exact boat as you, with a Note 4 that I can only use for Bluetooth calls.

By the way, how is the quality with the AUX jack? Is it the same as playing music from a USB stick or worse?

I haven't tried a USB stick but should be about the same technically. It's pretty infuriating that they couldn't get full functionality in these cars.

I tried playing the same song (mp3 file) from my smartphone and then from a USB stick. Big difference in quality.

No, any respectable setup would be through a digital interface.

I am in the same boat as most of you. I have a note 4, I can use bluetooth phone, but not music streaming.
Does anyone know if coding is a possible way of activating it without needing extra hardware?

Doubtful sadly, since it is a matter of available functionality rather than programming
