Berk/Maddad midpipes on OEM catback.
Anyone running one of these midpipes teamed with the oem cat back? If so how does the noise compare to stock, alot louder or just marginally throatier? I spoke to Evolve about running their decat mid's but was told that the rear catback unit is too well insulated to notice a big noise improvement.
I want the thing really loud but sadly don't have £4/5k to shell out for an Akrapovic Maybe I'll just get the drill out. I kid.

I have the maddad midpipes with everything else exhaust stock. Start up same volume, warm up a little louder but better "tone" and a good bit louder on acceleration.
Driving it now is more like a bike with good aftermarket exhaust. Easy going driving around, you'd barely notice a change. Get on it and everybody knows. |

I also have the Maddad midpipe with stock exhaust. Absolutely love the sound and car accelerates more smoothly as well. My favorite mod to date

Cheers!
I'm currently debating whether going for the midpipes or a full eisenmann race/evolve race system. I'll see. Going to be selling the car early next year so not sure it's overly worthwhile tbh. Haha sorry man. Thanks for the reply.

Just reread your post. If you want it louder run Berk/Maddad, a good set of cattless DPs (AR design, Macht Shnell, Burger) and a DCI. With that combo, which you can pick up on the used market for ~$1000, you will have a fantastic sounding car!

I have Berk mid pipes, everything else standard for the moment and on start up it's loud. I love it. The car park at work, everyone comments how mad it sounds. After start up it then quietens down which is why I've ordered a different rear section. No plans to replace downpipes just yet. |

Just got it installed, sounds great in the garage, but no test drive yet, that will have to wait until tomorrow AM.
Did anyone else find that the spring bolts at the rear flange did not tighten down as much as expected? The stock midpipe flange has approximately a 4mm rise around the pipe that presses the donut gasket a little farther into the rear section flange. The flange on the Mad Dad is flat. It is fully seated, but a lot of the donut gasket is showing, and it has a little more play than I would expect. I didn't play around with the stock pipe before I took it off, but I am pretty sure it was a tighter fit. At idle and some revs, there is no leak, but I can't help but wonder what will happen at full throttle under load. Anyone else notice this? |
