135i N55 DCT - Blown Charge Pipe
Hi Guys,
I few months back while on a 80 miles roadtrip averaging 85mph on a highway, my car broke the chargepipe by its connector, and the holding point in the engine, it was a mess. It broke when I got off the highway and went from a stop light to a go, and right there between second to third on a mild acceleration scenario the car started to shiver. When I stopped to look of what I thought a loosed intake, it looked all fine to me, and I continued my journey. It was on limp mode of course. When I arrived, I popped the hood and went and look more thoroughly and noticed the mess with the Charge Pipe. So I went to a local auto part store and purchased a ring to try an attached the charge pipe to the throttle, since I was far from home I wanted to get back driving. The car started just fine, and I continued my journey, when all of the sudden the car stopped working at all with all the possible lights in the dashboard on and flashing giving me all the errors in life and left me stranded. I called Road Assistance and they picked up my car right away and took me home since it was late. The next day I took my car to the service center, and the first question I got was "Were you on a race event?", I was like hell no. They took the car in and told me that it was kind of common on these cars then I left, and picked up the car o the next day brand new. I'm kind of worried now that this would happen to me again, and since then I've been driving with fear. Have this happened to any of you? My car is stock, at the moment of the breakdown, I had installed the BMS Air Intake for N55. I took it off before taking it to the service center of course. |

The charge pipe on these engines (both N54 and N55) is notoriously flimsy. Almost everyone replaces it.
Just do a search. There's hundreds of threads about it. |

Happened to mine as well around 30,000 under hard full throttle acceleration.
