Gone to the bin. It was correct that it is for show only. Disappointed.

On the day I picked up the car, I also received a package purchased from eBay.

Done about 200km so far, I already have complaints..

The car is too hot and the aircon is useless. I have it in 17 degree and I should be a frozen ham by then... but it refuses to do a job for me while the sun is shining into the car alright. I need to tint the window soon. But what it really annoys me is under my right foot. I start to get annoyed by the gap before the throttle gets to open the butterfly in the throttle body . The cure will be a sprint booster and I have to get one soon because I have been burning wheels on my Japan made 4WD because its throttle is designed for a much lighter footed Japanese.

Some absolute positives...

The car looks heaps good in white . I promised myself to get white only from now on. I reserved my love on the look before I ordered the car, but now it grew on me. Love the red leather. It is just special. Even tempted to get an OSIM message chair because it is similar red leather trimmed I have been in the discovery mode in the car in the last 2 days. There are so many gadget buttons in the car. I eventually found all the buttons in the seat and now lock in my position. Found that the memory function extends to the mirror settings, it is a surprise for me. Mirrors also go down when reversing... I don't need it but it is nice. The auto gearbox is as fast as I remember and in slow speeds it is as good as PDK. Honest . Going down a gear is definitely slower though. Just drive in DS mode if you are in a hurry then.

Booked in for UV shield window film installation from stealership Tuesday week.. it will looks 10 degree cooler inside and hopefully 20 inside

100% the car lets in a lot of UV light from the sunroof and front windscreen. A lot more than my old 120i?!?! My other windows have UV tint. On a long drive with everything on Auto, the car can sometimes have trouble sticking to the temp. The easy solution is pressing the auto button again to move to the higher auto level - not sure if this is an iDrive only feature.

You'll get used to the throttle in how to launch the car without feeling hesitation, but yes you might need a sprint booster or a tune to give you something more immediate.

I never use the auto selection on the A/C controls..

After owning BM's for the past 20 odd years I have always found that the A/C operates better in the manuel mode temperature selection.

And I dont have window tinting..

My car is AW with all black interior and I have darkest legal tint and no sunroof and never had an issue through summer with keeping the inside of the car cool. Like Zuzu, I use manual mode temp selection A/C only. Never even tried Auto A/C.

Same comment re the aircon. I don't find it cool enough even at 20 deg setting on auto mode.

When i don't turn the a/c on and just want fresh air in the car (without the windows open) i set it to 16 degs and it still blows warm air...??? This is even when the outside temp is 10-12degs.

taka - where are you getting your windrows tinted? I'm investigating options right now.

Confirmed: Auto climate control is shit. It is good for winter though. It warms the car great today.

I am going to get it tinted in our BMW. $645 from them.

I better call a few more places, but I remember long ago I was quoted over the phone for about $400 in like Tint-a-car.

You should be able to get it done for $300. Just make sure you get non metallic tints seeing you have comfort access. And getting a good result over the dot matrix can be a pain.

Thanks for the tips. I do like the Formula one film from Tint-a-car but they are now $465 rrp from $300 or so back in 2005. I suppose I can talk them down a touch, but if it is near $400. I will rather have a piece of mind getting it done at BMW, knowing that I may be able to take one of the demo out for a drive during these hours...

just heard on the radio this morning of a $100 discount at tint a car (not sure where type of tint though or whether it was across their range).

That is the midlight express range (check their website). The darkest legal tint they have. If you are after the look they are $295, even cheaper if you shake them a bit in the shop ... hehe.

But I am after function. I like F1 as they give the best UV and heat protection. I see if I have time to talk them down under $400. But .... $250 for a peace of mind... and to drive an M3 or new Z4, or the X5 or other BMW... for 1/2 day....

BMW can be normally be talked down just by quoting what you can get it for elsewhere. I got $150 off when I had mine done at the dealership. Cost $500 with lifetime warrantly.

I thought the same and had it tinted by the dealer before delivery and the result was this:

http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=233197

My dealer did not use a local tinter and I ended up having a 2 hour round trip to the actual tinter to get it fixed. If I had just used tintacar (never ever had an issue with them in the past) it would have cost me less and if I had an issue they are a 5 minute drive from work.

Oh well...

BMW Melbourne uses people in house... and they use UV shield.

http://www.uvshield.com.au/

As I said, I will take the sales manager's M3 if they stuff it up and need to redo the car

They asked $850 before....

In other makes (German but not BMW), they are around $600 mark. I guess the tint material is expensive.

Tinting should be mandatory in this country, with the amount of sunshine we have here. I could never drive a car without tinting. Mine cost $750 thru BMW and is the darkest legal tint (in WA at least).

I have the vert and I'm not certain tinted windows would look any good when the roof is down and the windows are up. Its not going to protect me from the sun either. Do any of the vert owners have tinted windows?
