Worn rear tires - options
So my rear tires are about to hit the wear bars however my fronts still have a bit of life left in them (5/32 tread depth front, 3/32 tread depth rear). I'm thinking about the best way to extend the life of the fronts so I am considering purchasing a set of used rear tires (also Michelin PS2s) to replace my worn rears. I've found some great deals locally on CraigsList, most of the pairs of tires I've found can be had for less than $150 with 80%+ of tread life. As long as they are free of any defects, this is a major money saver when compared to a new set of 4 tires.
However I can't find my exact size. I have found: 255/35/19 (One size narrower than stock, a tiny but smaller OD) 255/40/19 (One size narrower than stock, taller OD) 275/40/19 (One size wider than stock, a good bit taller OD) Any suggestions on a preferred tire size, given the options? Or should I really wait and find a better fitting tire? Will a 255 even fit properly on the rear wheels?
