HP Fuel pump failed......

Well guys, it's been awhile since my last post but I just had my 2009 135i in for repairs at the dealership this weekend. The HP fuel pump failed on me at 87,300 miles. I knew something was up but wasn't quite sure what it was at the time. The car would start going into Limp Mode and I got the "Reduced Power" message on the screen. I would simply pull over and restart the car and this seemed to take care of the issue for about a week until it would happen again. This started to occur more regularly and finally a week ago the car actually started to shake and hesitate along with losing power. That freaked me out and I knew the end was near. well I got by for 3 more days without incident until I stopped for some take out and upon starting the car it died.....I tried restarting the car and it would run for a few seconds then it would die again. The car would shake and hesitate and I could barely get it parked in a nearby lit parking lot. I ended up having to leave it overnight and got it towed to the dealership the next morning. I explained to the service advisor what the car was doing and told him I believed it was a clogged fuel filter or the HP fuel pump? Well it turned out to be the latter of the two. Thank God it was covered by BMW's special extended warranty on that part for 10 years or 120,000. I believe this is the second fuel pump replacement on this car. I bought it pre owned in 2011 with 20,000 miles and I believe the HP fuel pump was replaced under the first recall but I'm not sure. I'll have to ask the service advisor when I have a chance to call. He wasn't in when I picked up my car this morning. It drives like new now!

You guys can think yourselves lucky in the US. UK & Europe did not get a recall or extended warranty on this or any other N54 problems :-( I hate knowing mine is going to fail and i'm going to have to pay for it out my own pocket, just a matter of time!

Yeah, I heard about this? Did people not complain enough over there? I believe it was the extensive bad media coverage that prompted BMW North America to cave and fix this major problem?

British consumers don't like to make a fuss, we just have a moan and do nothing about it! Whereas in America, you guys make law suits for everything lol.

Im in Singapore and its the same story here, we don't get extended warranty on all the stuff the U.S guys get.

I think all the RHD customers should complain to BMW head office!

Well it's the Friday after the HP Fuel pump was replaced and the Engine Malfunction icon came on along with the "Reduced Power" statement! it happened twice within 10 minutes of reseting the first one!......The Service Engine Soon icon also illuminated? WTF?? Just got a new pump now something else??!!! Gotta get this thing back to the dealership soon I guess to diagnose the problem. If it isn't one thing it's another..........

Fixed the problem finally! The service advisor said that the intercooler boot going to the Turbocharger became dislodged.....They reconnected it and all is well again!!! No charge to me!!
