Who Has Replaced Their Own Turbos

my turbos smoke intermittently. 100k on them. ive had my bout with WG rattle which I fixed myself. the question is, who was brave enough to do them themselves? is it something a good mechanic could do in a day?

I'm a aircraft mechanic and it took me two days, I took my time but it's a pita.
Remove your intercooler, drain radiator, loosen rack and pinion, pull water pump and thermostat(replace both since your there) support the engine and pull the right motor mount. And all the other stuff on the top side.

Hoist engine, lower subframe.. Some guys even lower the whole engine which I don't understand. If I stay focused I can have them done in about 4 hours.
