Forgot How Much I Enjoy Driving My 1
Since my 135i is not my daily driver I don't get to drive it as much as I would like, but recently due to some travel and other obligations I went almost three weeks without driving the car. Needless to say when I got the chance to get back in the car last weekend I was impressed all over again with how much fun the car is, especially with a few performance mods. Take a 135i add a tune and upgrade the suspension and the car really gets transformed while still maintaining a decent ride. I'm sure you guys who live up north feel the same way if you store your car for the winter when spring comes around and you get to drive the car again.

Although I don't care much for the heat and humidity that comes with summer here in eastern North Carolina, I'm glad we rarely experience snow in the winter months. I'd hate not to be able to drive my 1 year round. So I feel for you guys who live in the Northeast and other parts of the world who have to deal with real winter weather.

Yes I hate storing my 1 away for winter. Even though my GTI is a blast, I just have this huge smile when spring comes and the joy of a new car rushed into me when I step into the 1.

I was thinking of trying that, traction control seems pretty spot on with these things so I doubt they're that bad in the winter.

Totally agree. I get the same feeling when I come back from 2-3 weeks of business travel where I don't get to drive anything at all and then I get to drive my 1'er. It's such an awesome feeling. I have a fairly long commute to work (about 45 mins each way) and people ask me if I mind it and honestly with this car, I wish it were a little longer sometimes.

The first and most striking thing whenever I get back in my car, after driving some rental corolla or something while out of town is, damn the steering is so stiff and heavy...was it always this heavy? Then I remember why I love this car.

The 135is is pretty fast already...do you really feel the Dinan Stage 2 tune was worth it? Did you upgrade your intercooler and oil cooler per Dinan's suggestions?

I feel like the Dinan stage 2 tune is worth it. There are other more aggressive tunes available for the 135, but I like the reliability of the Dinan tune and the warranty. Dinan only requires that you upgrade the intercooler and oil cooler if you want the stage 3 upgrade. Stage 2 works fine with the stock intercooler and oil cooler. However, I did upgrade my intercooler to a 5" ETS intercooler.
