Arrow 245/45/17 rear tire fitment?

Hey all,
Tried searching but didn't come up with anything useful. Has anybody run 245/45/17 rear tires before? I was thinking of trying out a pair of 45 profile rears instead of the more conventional 245/40/17 fitment in an effort to improve forward traction due to the taller, softer sidewalls. My rims are 17x8.5 +40 so going wider is not an option... Discuss!

All 135i's come with 18 inch wheels. There were two wheel designs - both 18's. A five spoke wheel and a double five spoke(///M) wheel.

Does your car have 17's ? Maybe from a 128i ?

No, I will be fitting 17x8.5 +40 TE37SLs within the coming few days. Just trying to see if I should stick with the 245/40/17 RE71Rs I bought for it or buy a couple of 245/45/17s for the rear because it is SEVERELY traction limited the way it stands right now (245/40/18 Advan Neova AD08R + Quaife LSD + RSFB + //M arms)

Did you not bother to read his post?

OP, you're only .2" taller in radius over a 265/35 18. You should be fine...but it would help if you're not overly lowered.

18's were standard. I guess its possible that some cars came with 17's - since they do fit. I used 17's wheel for my winters. But the standard wheel was a 18.

18s were standard, 17s were optional. But hey, thanks for the pics?

What any of that has to do with this thread, I'm not sure.

Let's recap, shall we?

The guy tells us he has 17" wheels (as many, many of us do) and asks about a specific 17" tire size.

You decide to type out a reply, telling him all 135s have 18s (which is wrong, 17s were an option and many of us run aftermarket 17s). But more to the point, what does that have to do with anything? He SAID he has 17" wheels. So who the hell cares what the stock wheels on his car were?

Then, despite the fact that he's already told you, you ask him if he has 17s...

Are you drunk? Or just not reading posts before typing replies?

Can we please stop this aimless bickering and get back on point?

First time one the internet?

And again, they'll fit. Hardly any bigger than a 265/35-18, which people run, or a 235/45-17 which people also run, self included. Plenty of room for a couple more tenths of an inch.

So...there's nothing else left to do in here by aimlessly bicker.

Might depend on the tire but my nitto 555r 245/45/17 on a 8.5 et40 rubs the fender on big bumps. Also if I have more then two people or my tool box in the trunk it's more prone to rub on almost all bumps

Hmm...

Are you lowered, if so, how much?

Nope stock ride height. Might just be because it's a drag radial and probably runs wide

Still though, those guys running 265/35-18, lowered even. Guess higher offset wheels.

You're rubbing the fender liner on the outside half of the tire I take it, near the outside edge?

No it's the actual lip sticking in from the fender them at people roll or cut. Yeah people running 265s have like et52, I think that is what Apex and others sell for us

245/40R17 would be the recommended rear size.
