An intake on a 128i is really an intake.. there are 100 threads on here about intakes.. I would use the search button.. they are all going to be very similiar for a non-turboed car.

in fact, I wouldn't change intake.
There are probably reasons why people put it on sale after they use them.
Save the hassle, if you want to mod, either PE or suspension or go cosmetic instead.

if your only engine upgrade you are going to do is intake, it might not be worth it.

However, it works great with an exhaust, and even better with a tune !
or if u just want more sound coming out of your engine

Good Choice!!! You saved about $300 for around the same gain in power you would receive with a full intake. Now, start on suspension!!!!

If equipped, do a carbon filter delete... Its Permenant.

Theory behind it.. If its in the air stream it is hindering Flow.

I Have the BMW Perf Intake.. I did the Carbon filter delete. I enjoy the sound, and with the PBX box, i "feel" as though the RPM's are just that more responsive and eager to climb quickly... my .02 YMMV

I originally upgraded to K&N Air Filter, then upgraded to Injen intake. I like hearing my engine with the Injen, it's plenty loud and I can hear it sucking air which is awesome

Highly recommended! My car goes back next year so I'll have to sell it, let me know if you're interested at the end of summer :P

Is the K&N drop in filter add any HP? or do you need to actually buy a new intake to get that HP gain?

I just upgraded to BMW PE which is incredible BTW and want to look at alternatives for HP gain.

If there is, it's not noticeable, I just bought it because it can be cleaned and reused. Same goes for an aftermarket system. The gains will be so minimal that you wouldn't feel any power difference. Everyone that puts a full intake on a car will tell you they feel more pull, but it's pure placeboo due to the sound making it seem faster. There's a post where the combination of intake, exhaust and PBX actually lost power. Plus, IMO and a few others, \a full aftermarket intake sounds like crap on this car compared to the stock engine sound it produces. My friend took his off after a couple of month's due to the terrible/ ricey drone his Injin intake system produced, though some people will like the way it sounds. If you have the money to blow, go with the BMW performance intake if you just absolutely have to have an intake I would put the money into suspension, wheels and cosmetics personally.

You want more horsepower? Buy a car with a blown engine. Or an E46 M3.

Injen Cold Airt Intake

I just installed the Injen Cold Air Intake. I think its great and the car has a loud sound but a good not a "ricer" sound. Only problem is that INJEN never gave a piece to support the intake from falling. Anyone else have this problem?

Injen has been known to "forget " things with their kits. Glad you like the sound it makes, I know my friend had one and it really took away from the stock engine sound the car already makes. Like I said before, some people will like the noise from a open style intake system for this car, some (including myself) thinks it sounds horrible. Just my opinion though. I suggest getting in contact with injen if they forgot something.

I must agreed I purchased an injen intake for my pickup and i was missing several screws luckily I had some laying around in my garage that fit. I purchased an afe intake for my 1er and the sound is nice. In my opinion injen and afe are one in the same. But as everyone else is saying if you're getting an intake alone then pass and just get the drop in filter and spend your money on other mods.

Learn to spell the companies name before you knock a product. PBX was the cause for loss of power from what I have read. I have seen plenty of cars with small horsepower gains (on the dyno) from intakes.

in my opinion the best gains for the lowest price is the carbon filter delete and intake scoops. These combined are a great pair and very affordable
