You should be able to get that repaired at any auto upholstery shop.

Yeah, like the previous guy said. A good upholstery shop should be able to
match the panel for like $150-200 bucks hopefully - which is worth it to me, because the little annoyances day-to-day seriously detract from your enjoyment
of the car. Take care of her!

If your car is still within the warranty period, take it to the dealer. They fixed mine under warranty.

Hey, i HAD a tear in mine too, but the dealer replaced it under warranty free of charge.

mine is an 09 135i. give your dealer a call, hopefully they can help you out!

They replaced the whole seat, FYI.

Its not under warranty sadly. I feel like it would be easier to just replace the bottom section, no?

Sure, this is an option - go to the dealer already and get a quote for the parts and labor. If you don't like the price - then go to an auto upholstery shop and get a vinyl repair done. They use a heat gun and vinyl filler with pattern overlays to fix the tear, providing the base material is not worn. If the vinyl technician is good, you won't notice it, unless you are looking at it in direct sunlight.
