Alcantara or Carbon Fiber?

Hi guys,

What do you all think? I'm planning on switching up my interior by wrapping all the wood trims either Alcantara or Carbon Fiber? Which one looks better in your opinion? I think the wood does no justice to my coral red interior. It also makes the car look a bit outdated in my opinion.

I love my alcantara trim. It's a great upgrade. Feels good and looks good. Carbon felt to racer for me.

Did you do it yourself or did you have a shop wrap your trim?

Got any pictures of the outcome?

I ended up buying the 1M alcantara with the stitching. It's much cheaper to have a local upholstery do the job.

Not sure off the top of my head. It was $900 - $1,000. Like I said I only got it for the stitching and oem quality. A good upholstery shop could do the same and maybe custom color stitching for a lot cheaper. Wish I had went that route.

Yea I felt the same way. You can see I still need to switch out the shifter trim. Just haven't had time to take the whole center console out yet.

Thats nice, and kinda what i was thinking about doing as well, but what did you do for the center console/ash tray? Just trying to get ideas on it as the dimpled aluminum is starting to get old for me. Maybe just that part Carbon fiber.

I bought the stock flat black shifter and ashtray trim from the 1m as well. only $30 a piece.

I thought about doing the shifter and ashtray in the BMW carbon trim but the price is ridiculously overpriced for fake carbon fiber parts. You could just buy the 1m pieces, wrap them in 3m carbon fiber and clear coat them for half the price that BMW charges.

Hmm thats not a bad idea. We do Hydro-dipping at my company i bet i could get them to dip some trim carbon fiber and it would look just as good as the BMW OEM trim.

I would do that. Put a thick clear coat on top of it and it would look real.

I would start with vinyl since it's so cheap, if you don't like it then spend the $$ on Alcantera.

I wrapped my trim in 3M 1080 black CF. Cost me about $30, still happy with it but after looking at the Alcantera pics I may have to go that route some day lol.

I think carbon fiber would look good where the wood or aluminum trim went.

Carbon fiber > all materials to me. Titanium is a nice second (bad choice for interior). If I wasn't using REAL carbon fiber I'd be going with a single color though. I can't stand the fake shit. Leave the fake shit for cell phone skins, it has no place on a car! My 2¢

alcantara for sure. have never understood why people put in CF interiors. prefer 'soft touch' to hard touch.
