M Sport bumper mod / unique trunk spoiler
When I picked up my M Sport front bumper a few months ago, I bought two extra pieces of the center mesh and cut them to fit behind the side intake ducts. I always liked the idea of removing the horizontal bars in these ducts like others have done but I always felt they left it looking a bit unfinished.
However, with the mesh in there, I think it alleviates that and matches the center section quite well. I've been looking at trunk spoilers forever but really wanted something a little more aggressive than the oem lip spoiler and not quite as large as the performance spoilers. I came across the 3D Design spoiler, which is essentially an E46 M3 stlye lip, and though it fit the bill quite well. Their version is astronomically priced, so I began looking for a replica. Came across a fleebay one which looked pretty close. $70 painted from Taiwan, took 5 days to get here, and I think it's well worth the money. If anyone is interested in the seller, pm me and I'll send over.

Bumper mesh looks great. Could you take a picture from farther out?
The spoiler doesnt look like it matches the boot lines.

Like the mesh, not a fan of the spoiler.

This spoiler sits in the same space as the oem lip spoiler, i.e. along the top curvature of the trunk edge. I agree that a better solution would be a version which matches the contour of the lower edge and sits 100% flush. The authentic 3D Design looks to get close but it's $850 for a friggin' lip spoiler. To each his own, but to me, the performance spoiler looks a little boy racer and I can't stand the recess above the third brake light. It just looks too big and chunky, imo, and the oem lip is barely noticeable. Not many options out there for the E82.

The spoiler would be pretty cool if it tapered at the ends like the OEM spoilers. Man if you think the BMWP spoiler is too much, have you seen the Mode Carbon one? Heh.

http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...ht=51118045432 All I did this time around was cut out the horizontal bars on the side ducts. Easiest way is to remove the front wheels, remove the inner fender liner, and access the ducts that way. They just snap out. Cut/saw the bars out and finished off with a dremel. Then just re-attached the mesh.

My understanding is that behind the mesh is nothing for a 128i. The air just flows into the empty space, correct? I also read that it does not screw in perfectly to the 128i under tray. Were either of these a problem?

Ducts directing air to the general vicinity of the wheel well, but not in any effective way at the brakes, you mean.
