what's with the cargo nets?
On the literature brochures, and on their web page, BMWNA shows the E90 with cargo nets on the back of the front seats. I thought I had seen them on the early dealer models, but now I'm doubting myself. None of the ones I saw at the dealer recently had them. What are the folks with the US version of the car getting? Is it on the SP only? How about those in Europe and SA? Anyone who's done a ED remember if they got them? If they do exist for some countries, and it's advertised as standard in the US, would you reason one can insist they install such seats for cars that are ordered from the factory?

Good point..
I asked my dealer about the net when I took the delivery of my 330i 2 weeks ago, but haven't heard from him yet... Would it be useful if I had those?? I'm not so sure about it, though..

In south africa, the nets are standard on the 325's and 330's. The 320i and 320d don't have them. One thing that is confusing me, is some 320d/320i have those lights above the mirrors, and some don't. The dealer tried to tell me it's the lights package, but it isn't. I had a thorough look, and the cars with the "mirror lights" didn't have footwell lights, or the lights on the door handles (which surely are part of the lights package)
Does anyone know why? I thought maybe exclusive models or sport models have it? |

yes, I'd almost swear I've seen them in person when the models first arrive, yet today, the cars at the dealers in the US don't have them.
I haven't had them in a car for 7 years, and I still miss not having them. I wish we could force the factory to put them in when ordering. |

Please chech out this thread at bimmerfest.
http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=99906 In it, I said - "I remember taking a long look at both a fully equipped 330i and a completely base 325i, and on BOTH, I don't remember any kind of netting behind the front seats, and I sat in every seat at least a half dozen times of both cars. There was just that hard plastic backing, grooved out on the sides to better accommodate a person's knees/legs" This was in response to someone who said they had nets, and then Armen52 says there is a "a very small pull-out storage space there on the back of the front seats". If anyone can clarify this cargo nets behind the seats issue, it would be appreciated. Thanks. |

I took European Delivery and did not have cargo nets on the back of the front seats. I don't particularily like them, so it didn't bother me. I was surprised they weren't there because I read on BMW standard features section of the E90 - "Front seatback storage nets", which is still on the site today.

The last 2 posts that have them also have leather seats, could this be a leather/leatherette difference?

At the launch events here in Toronto, all of the E90's (330i and 325i) had the seatback nets. And they are also listed a standard equipment on both models on bmw.ca.
When my 325i arrived I noticed it didn't have them (and I really wanted them). My dealer said it was probably a mistake on the website. I emailed BMW Canada to tell them about the error and they replied that it's actually the cars they are incorrect. All 325i and 330i should have the nets, but only the 330's have them on the first shipments. They attributed the problem to an early build configuration error. The cars will be retrofitted if the owner wants the nets, they are currently working on the retrofit program. I was told to contact my dealer and tell them to keep a watch out for instructions to retrofit the nets to the 325i (this was about 1 week ago). Long post, but wanted to let you all know. Not sure of the situation in other markets, but you Canadian 325i owners call your sales person! (Before I received the reply from BMW Canada I priced out the nets to buy myself. $151 each, plus installation.)

As the only European in this thread I just say: I have'em!
And they are part of the Dynamic Executive Package here in my country. They are very functional. It's a pity though that the box in the trunk you have to pay for as another option. |

so the cargo nets were only part of the sports package? if so that could be the reason why i didnt get them. that is the only package i did not get.
