Yet another new person
Hi all, I too have been lurking in the shadows for some time, and decided it's time to "come out", and make myself known.
I'm not a 1er owner, but the finance on my 3er -- this is Gunter in pic below (hopefully attachmentworks) - is coming to it's end in the next 6 months, so it's time to start looking. I think I've managed to convince myself that I'd be a better husband, father and all around human being, if I drive a 135i Coupe, which might or might not include some modifications. I've test driven both the 335 and the 135, and i have to say, both are very good cars. my reasoning behind the preference towards the 135 is really quite simple -- my family is grown up, and i don't have a need for more than a couple of people (more very occassionally), and I can't justify the additional $'s. More importantly, it reminds me of my e30 323i -- Ah!!! What a car that was.... I've been looking into possible "tunes" for a 135, and it occurs to me that I haven't heard PowerChip mentioned - their claim is..... Cheers to all _______________________ Products In standard form, the BMW 135i 3.0 Twin Turbo produces 225 kW, however the addition of a PowerchipGold 98 will increase the power to 261 kW. In addition to the extra power, the torque is also increased. The 135i 3.0 Twin Turbo produces 400 Nm standard, and this is increased to 464 Nm. This means more pulling power especially up hills. Welcome to 1 addcits! Just a quick comment about Powerchip. A few weeks ago, they contacted me through a friend to try to get me down there with my car. They were going to offer me a free flash on my car, as they have never tested it on a 135i and a V81. They said that all V81 will throw codes, which we know is not true. Straight to the point, I wouldn't touch them with a 10 foot pole. There are many much better options like AA, JB3, SSTT etc.

Last year when I got my performance car itch, I was pretty much hooked on the idea of a 335 coupe. Then I happened to see a newspaper article on the 135 in a local paper. Same engine, heaps cheaper, faster, and I don't need the extra space. The rest is history.

Welcome BFI2906
Hope you enjoy the time here. I was skeptical at first but there is a wealth of knowledge amongst the top posters. They are really well informed and partly responsible for a pending upgrade trip to Southen BM Melbourne. That is conditional on delivery from the local dealership this Friday.... Can't wait... This forum keeps me from going insane... Mike... |

Welcome aboard!
Looks like a 325Ci Special Edition Nice! (I'm biased, I had a Stratus Grey manual one) Take the leap, the 135 will make you smile. |

What does BFI2906 stand for?
Actually there are a few wierd call signs (oops from my CB days) we should start another thread for this. BTW 'yep 135' is from "you are correct, thats what your looking at". Or "thats what just beat you" or "past you" or "your brain is fuctioning properly" etc etc Yep. |

Sorry for the slow reply - had to drop the "good lady" (wife) at the airport - Part of the "I need a 135" strategy to win brownie points in advance. Actually, she's very understanding of my irrational addiction to BMW's.
Thanks for the warm welcome. This seems like a really educated and "balanced" group - some other forums are full of ****heads. The bfi2906 is simply an identifier I've used for years. I use it on IM, and places like this. I find it easier to use the same one all the time - particularly as the years march on, and alcohol induced memorey loss sets in. Interesting comments on Powerchip - they've been around for years. Such a pity we couldn't find a local product, from a local company - that would make support so much easier - and chances are it'd be national. Finally, thanks for the comments on the current car - it's still a great car (albeit somewhat underpowered). It's like a go-kart when you hunt it along. Until i drove the 135, i was seriously reconsidering whether it was worth changing. Good as the 335 is, it just "didn't do it for me", and i felt like I was changing (and thus spending $'s)for the wrong reasons. After I drove the 135 -- no-brainer. Must have one. No debate will be entered into, etc, etc.. The feeling of deja vu was amazing. I felt like I was back in my first BMW - an original Zinnobar Red e30 323i. It's wierd, the differences in refinement are very apparent, but more importantly, so are the similarities. All the things that made the e30 such a desirable car are evident in the 135, but they've been modernised, without losing the "edge" that made it a "real" BMW. All BMW's are good cars. To say anything else would not be credible. But for a self-confessed BMW bigot like me, the 135 is what a BMW should be. Cheers guys. |

bfi2906, I was actually looking at finding myself a E30 M3 EVO that I would turn into a track car. I love the size of the E30. Then BMW goes and release this, so it was a no brainer for me. A brand new BMW with the latest technology in a package the same size as the E30. Love it.

Way, if you're ever looking for someone to go in on an E30, give me a yell. This has been on my radar for a while, and I'm looking for a genuine opportunity to put some money into one.

Well the options I'd looked at were going for the M3 variant, or going down the seemingly increasing worn path of putting a 1UZ into the e30. I hadn't really made my mind up. The goal being, I have a road car, and a track car that's relatively affordable for myself, that wouldn't cost a mint if I binned it.
I'm just about to move into a brand new townhouse in Brunswick and have two car parking spots in a lock up garage. However, this becomes moot as I've currently got an offer on a 2002 that parked down the street In any case, it's not something that I've made a priority, but having an e30 is a track car is something that's been on my list for a while, and i'll work towards it.

Prof, remember we were talking about Templestowe? There are two very nice houses there that would suit your need! Both have 4 car garages!
