Pressing DTC once turns on 'Dynamic Traction Control'. I don't know what's so hard to understand. There's 'Traction Control' and then there's 'Dynamic Traction Control' ... from here on out abreviated as TC and DTC. TC is part of DSC and is on by default when you start the car. TC allows *NO* wheel spin. DTC, what you get when you press the button, allows *SOME* wheel spin. As a side note, it also allows a little bit of yaw, but that's outside the scope of the discussion. Which is why you also get the visual warning to let you know that you're going to experience some wheel spin and some yaw. Which is also why you'd want it in the snow. If TC hit brakes and cut engine power at the first hint of slip you'd never get anywhere. Pressing the DTC button for five seconds turns off DSC. Think of DTC as a program (which it really is) that's loosening up the paramaters of TC. I repeat, DTC is *not* on by default TC *is*. So, "PRESSING DTC ONCE TURNS OFF DTC" is not possible because it's not on by default ... what is? TC is. Which is all just part of the DSC program anyway, they're not seperate systems. The earliest e46's had this setup the same way, they called the stability control programs TC and ASC. Pressing the ASC button killed TC but kept ASC running ... you could burn tires in a straight line all you wanted but the minute there was any yaw the fun was over. Then they switched and wrapped them both into DSC. |

This has got to be the most boring thread EVER! Can you guys stop bitching about this and concentrate on the THREAD. I want to hear about people's Ipod/phone set-up.
Enough about DTC/DSC already. Read the manual. It's all in there.

It's fun, but doesn't really matter. On another note, I wonder if the new MOST ipod kit will alow you to route wires to the center console instead of the glove box? I'd definately prefer center console. |

Traction control is always on when the car is started, thats why there are no indicator lamps showing either the circle or the DTC letters.

Is artz saying that there is a difference between the following?
- Traction Control - Dynamic Traction Control For what it's worth, DTC is OFF initially. You have to turn it ON...and it will turn back off when you turn off the car.
