I agree, I thought that was funny. The rest was 'so-so', it's not improving. I don't understand why they insist on thrashing the shit out of everything on the show. I felt sick watching the R8 doing donuts. FFS.

Did anyone else notice? That 135i in the TopGear episode... was this one:
http://www.wheelsmag.com.au/wheels/s...2574EB000CC9C7 Poor thing. At least it looks like it had some fun before it died...

I haven't watched the whole episode yet but I did browse through the 135i review. I think it was a glowing review, re-affirming the fact that it's a performance bargain and pretty handy around the track to boot. The comment about it being perceived as a girls car I don't mind so much as lets face it, it is a 1 series, the baby of the BMW range. However, I don't think the hosts agree that it's a girls car, they acknowledge that which we all already know, that underneath, she's got balls

R8 Review was pretty average. Actually pretty below average. I'm sick of the donuts. Ok I understand when you're in a fast car you can do donuts. Congratulations. But not all of your viewers are immature 17 year olds.
How about mentioning something about how the car drives? How about the handling? Or are you just going to tell us it can go fast up and down a runway? |

Very good episode no. 4 - enjoyed it very much...
Excellent to see the Audi R8 and 135i in action... They're comments on the 135i compared to big brother M3 are pretty much what everyone who knows both cars would expect, but despite being more than a match to the M3 it's still a case of each to their own if you wanted to spend twice as much and get an M3, nothing wrong with that... I mean if it was all about performance and bang/value for buck only, we'd all be driving either an XR6 T or VE SS as they cost well under 50k drive-away with similar performance and alot more car for the money... That tractor drive through Toorak trying to give the local rich nose snobs a hard time in their SUV's was a laugh |

Will have to download later on tonight..
Had one of the Gym members ( A mad HSV fan ) come up to me this morning and give me his impression of the 135 on the show...Totally loved it and is even considering getting rid of the HSV beast and steeping UP in the world.. Unfortunatly I work late every Monday night and dont get to watch the show.. Maybe this is a good thing by the sound of the mixed reviews here.. |

While the T was gutsy, the 135i is just not as raw and is somewhat more refined. I haven't driven it as hard yet though, but don't expect to be disappointed. My T cost me more than $50K five years ago, too!

Well... I have both cars in the garage and am not disappointed or pissed that I spent 2 x the value of the 1 on the M. They are different cars and, as I have said on other posts, the M is an M end of story. What car do I walk up to when I want to go for a drive... dumb question.
Oh yeh, "the 1 is a girls car" says the wife, after all it is her car and she gets funny like that. The R8 was, I suspect, at Hamilton Isl in support of the Audi Sailing thing (they are big into yachting stuff). As such they were prolly approached by Audi to do the show there and supplied them, funnily enough, an Audi to chop up and put on an out board motor and sail. Having not been to Hamilton I am not sure but suspect that the airstrip was he only place they could take the car that had a straight road with greater capacity to do +60km/h. Maybe just a conspiracy theory... anyway I like the show. |

Agreed. I'm actually really enjoying the show and think they have improved ten fold. Compared to a bunch of the recent Fifth Gear Episodes I watched last week, they stack up just as well. Compared to Top Gear UK, they aren't that far behind IMHO.
